IGP Visits Anambra, Commiserates with Families of Police Men Attacked by EndSARS Hoodlums

On the 8/12/2020 the Inspector-general of Police IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu,NPM,mni paid an official visit to Anambra State Police Command, Awka to personally commiserate with the Command over the unfortunate attacks, killing of four police officers and injuring fifteen others during the recent #ENDSARS protest which was hijacked by hoodlums who launched vicious and murderous attacks on police personnel and facilities in the State.

The IGP was received by the Assistant Inspector-general of Police in charge of Zone 13 headquarters,Ukpo AIG Danmallam Mohammed and Commissioner of Police CP John B.Abang,fdc as well as other Senior officers of the Command.

In his welcome address,the Commissioner of Police CP John B.Abang,fdc thanked the IGP for taking time out of his very busy schedule to visit the Command.The CP noted that deducing from the outpouring of sympathy and concerns after the three days of mayhem,the Command is certain that police was not attacked by members of the Communities they serve,but by criminals,dissidents and disgruntled elements and that some public spirited philanthropist/State Government have begun to rebuild,repair and renovate the facilities barely Six Weeks after the onslaught, reconstruction efforts have commenced in eighteen(18) Police stations/facilities;and are presently between 30% and 90% completion.

The CP further assured the IGP that the Command has fully reclaimed the public space in the State in compliance with his directives through a robust operational strategies and visibility patrol by the newly formed Rapid Response Squad(RRS) Operation Udoka, Area Commands and Divisional formations.The CP further assured the IGP that the Command under his watch will continue to sustain the toga of Anambra State being the’Safest State in the Nation’

While responding,the IGP condoled the families of four slain officers,the injured and those whose personal properties were destroyed during the protests.

The IGP equally Commended the Command for handling the situation professionally despite the provocation and for resuming full police activities within a shortest period of time.

Consequently,the IGP also attended to questions and observations made by some personnel of the Command and responded positively.He also Commended His Excellency Governor Willie Obiano for providing logistic and financial support especially to the families of deceased police officers and to the injured personnel.

Meanwhile,other Senior officers who formed part of the IGP’s entourage includes DIG Celestine Okoye and the Force PRO DCP Frank Mba.
