Ooni of Ife Endorses Non-Custodial Measures

His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ooni of Ile-Ife, has endorsed the Non-Custodial measures of the Nigerian Correctional Service as the best thing to happen to the service at this present time.

Ooni of Ile-Ife gave his endorsement during the familiarisation/courtesy visit to him by the Controller of Corrections, Nigerian Correctional Service, Osun State Command , Olanrewaju Amoran at his palace, Ile Oodua, in Ile-Ife recently.

He noted in his remarks that Non-Custodial measures will address issues of dispensing justice to minor offenders who committed minor crimes.

He admonished the service not to be left behind in the scheme of things as these measures are being embraced and utilised in other climes. He urged the service to effectively implement them. That it’s implementation will place it on higher pedestal in the world’s criminal justice administration and be in tune with global best practices.

Ooni later assured and pledged his unwavering support for NCoS, in ensuring proper and successful implementation of the measures in his domain.

Earlier in his address, CC Amoran expressed his heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the Controller General of Corrections, Ja’afaru Ahmed for the warm reception accorded him and his entourage. He highlighted in detail the basic rudiments of the non-custodial measures.

Highlights of the visit include: offering of royal blessings by the Ooni on the Controller for a successful tenure. Controller and his team were conducted round Ooni’s museum and group photographs.
