MaxAir Plans Calabar Route after a Request by Former DSS Boss
Th former Director General of the State Security Service, Mr Ekpenyong Ita, has appealed to Chairman of MAXAIR limited, Alhaji Dahiru Mangal, to introduce the airline service to Calabar.
For now, Margaret Ekpo International Airport, Calabar is being serviced by only one private airline, a situation that makes most stranded Calabar bound passengers re-route their flights to nearby airports outside Cross River State and connect by land with attendant bad interstate roads.
Mr Ita in his letter of “Request for introduction of Calabar route in MAXAIR flight operations” he personally presented to Alhaji Mangal in Abuja, he urged the “esteemed company to consider the introduction of Calabar route in her domestic flight operations this year. This would enhance the quality of flight operations and further boost the confidence of passengers to and from the State who are often faced with challenges of delays and other related flight encumbrances.
“I assure you the Calabar route will be viable for your operations, and as a veritable tourism destination that Calabar is, your touch of class and exceptional professionalism would also be readily welcomed by the teeming passengers” he said.
Responding, Alhaji Mangal promised to oblige to the request as soon as consultations with the executive management of the Airline on modalities are done with.
He particularly thanked Mr Ita for having confidence in the Airline and assured that the Airline would strive to maintain the present applauded standards and even improve on them.
