Again, Police Parade Child-Trafficking Syndicate in Anambra

During the week under review the command has recorded cases of interest to members of the public as follows,

It will be recalled that on 23/1/2021,police operatives attached to Ihiala Division arrested two suspects who allegedly stole a three years old child who was later rescued in Imo State and reunited with his parent.

The suspects, following discreet investigation revealed that they usually lure their victims within the markets, Churches and Schools premises were the children play using sweets or biscuits and take them to one Mrs Malvina Uju Uba ‘f’ who buy the children between the sum of one hundred to five hundred thousand naira only.

Consequently,on 26/1/2021 police operatives attached to the SIB and Area Command, Oraifite,in an operation being coordinated by the Area Commander, ACP Afolabi Wilfred, raided the house of the principal receiver of the stolen children ealier mentioned by the suspects in Ihiala at a house located opposite Nnamdi Azikiwe Orthopedic Teaching Hospital Oba in Idemili South LGA of Anambra State and arrested ten female suspects, including the principal suspect, two teenage girls who were being impregnated. During the operation five newly born babies and three other children were also rescued.

Meanwhile, the rescued children were handed over to the Ministry of Social Welfare, Children’s and Women’s Affairs for proper care, while investigation is ongoing after which both the Principal suspect and her accomplices will be charged to court for prosecution.

The Command also paraded Four robbery suspects, including the ones who recently robbed a POS agent at Oba in Idemili South LGA of Anambra State,Car snatching syndicate who robbed a man of his shuttle bus at bridge head Onitsha,and a notorious robbery suspect who specialise in snatching women handbags and handsets at Dike park Awka.

Exhibits recovered from the suspects includes one barreta pistol, one fabricated pistol and two life ammunition of .9mm.

Other Suspects paraded includes,two suspected rapists and one murder suspect who allegedly killed his wife and Son over what he described as influence of Indian hemp.All cases are under investigations after which suspect would be brought to justice.

The Command warns that anybody found engaging in all manner of crimes in the State should be ready to face the full wrath of the law.The Command will continue to pursue the criminals until they refrain from committing crimes or relocate from the State.
