NCoS: 76 Prison Inmates Bag NCE
76 inmates of Old Abeokuta Custodial Center, Ibara, Ogun State graduated from Yewa Central College of Education (YCCE), while Eighteen 18 others were enrolled to study various courses.
In his speech at the graduation ceremony, Prof Bamigbose, the provost of the College, commended Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) for shinning light into the darkness of the inmates through good Educational policies.
Earlier in his remarks, the Controller of the State Command, MOJEED OLANIRAN said that NCoS has been turned into a full fledged reformation institution with the enactment of NCoS Act, 2019
He noted that the Service is poised to collaborate with individuals and organisations for the reformation of the inmates in it’s custody. He admonished the inmates to make good use of the opportunity presented to them by the Service to become better citizens.

He as well appreciated the authorities of YCCE for the long standing partnership with NCoS for the training of inmates and enjoined others to emulate the good gesture.
Recall that 40 inmates of the center graduated from YCCE in 2019, while 13 other inmates in 2018 enrolled into NOUN and 64 others were awarded vocational certificates in the same year after acquiring skills in various vocations of their choice. 69 inmates had also successfully completed NCE program in 2017.
Further more, 50 inmates are currently running degree programs with NOUN and these include two master degree students. The center, with the support of Hospital and Prisons Welfare Initiatives (HPWI) and Kuta Art Community, Non government Organizations has trained 32 inmates in the production of Adire , Kampala, Batik, tie and dye and Splash.
High point of the occasion was the presentation of Honorary Awards to the Controller of Correctional Service Ogun State Command MOJEED OLABODE OLANIRAN and Oba Kabiyesi Osile Oke-Ona. Awards of academic excellence were also presented to the deserving students
