Realigning NITDA Act with Digital Economy Policy Necessary–Kashifu Abdullahi
The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA, Mallam Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, has underscored the need to realign the “NITDA Act” of 2007, with the digital economy agenda of the federal government.
Submitting a proposal for the realignment of the ‘NITDA Act” with the digital economy policy, before relevant Committees of the two Chambers of the National Assembly, Mall. Abdullahi, said it is pertinent for Nigeria to keep up with trends in the IT ecosystem.

“Keeping up with global pace has compelled the need to urgently mutate and realign the current ‘NITDA ACT 2007’ to meet the present outlook of emerging technology, in order to secure a place for Nigeria in the global digital economy, and 4th industrial revolution,” he said.
Chairman, Senate Committee on ICT and Cybercrimes, Senator Yakubu Oseni, in his remark, noted that ICT revolution has accelerated the pace of globalization, saying Nigeria cannot afford to lag behind.
He assured that his Committee will work assiduously with the House Committee and other relevant stakeholders, to ensure an accelerated passage of the amended NITDA Act.
On his part, Hon. Abubarkar Lado, Chairman, House Committee on Information and Communication Technology, said the need to effect necessary amendments in the NITDA Act is long overdue.
