NYSC Council Visits Army Chief, Seeks Deployment of Troops in Camps
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is appealing for massive deployment of Nigerian Army troops in its orientation camps, across the country.
This is to protect corps members from armed bandits, kidnappers and other criminal elements.
Ambassador Fatima Barna Abubakar, Chairman of the NYSC Governing Council, made the request at the Army Headquarters, in Abuja, on Friday.
She led other members of the Council on a courtesy call to Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS).
Amb. Abubakar, while bemoaning rising insecurity in the country, noted that the Army has continued to be an important stakeholder in the NYSC Scheme.

According to her, the massive security provided at NYSC camps by soldiers during the #EndSARS protest, prevented the wanton vandalization of properties at the camps by hoodlums.
The NYSC Governing Council Chairman, stressed the need for collaboration between their Scheme and the Army in the area of capacity and human resources development.
Lt. Gen. Attahiru, while responding, commended NYSC officials for instilling in teeming Nigerian youths the attitude of patriotism and loyal service to their fatherland.
The COAS, advised the NYSC management to introduce patriotism and entrepreneurship as subjects in their orientation programmes, to enhance national development.
