NYSC Council Visits Army Chief, Seeks Deployment of Troops in Camps

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is appealing for massive deployment of Nigerian Army troops in its orientation camps, across the country.

This is to protect corps members from armed bandits, kidnappers and other criminal elements.

Ambassador Fatima Barna Abubakar, Chairman of the NYSC Governing Council, made the request at the Army Headquarters, in Abuja, on Friday.

She led other members of the Council on a courtesy call to Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS).

Amb. Abubakar, while bemoaning rising insecurity in the country, noted that the Army has continued to be an important stakeholder in the NYSC Scheme.

Lt. Gen. Attahiru, while responding, commended NYSC officials for instilling in teeming Nigerian youths the attitude of patriotism and loyal service to their fatherland.
