… Police Reinforce Tunga Maje Axis

Vice-Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Gwagwalada Branch, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. David Aigbefor has fought and subdued a group of kidnappers, who raided his apartment at Tungan Maje, in Zuba axis Abuja.

The kidnappers were forced to escape after the police responded to a distress call and stormed the area.

The Tungan Maje Community, an outskirt of Abuja has become notorious for activities armed robbers and kidnappers with several raids and arrest by the police in recent times.

PRNigeria gathered that the daredevil criminals, who were armed with AK-47 guns and other sophisticated weapons, invaded the Gwagwalada NBA official’s residence, in the early hours of Wednesday.

The kidnappers, it was learnt, gained access into Igbefo’s house, after shattering the gate and entrance door of the living room, with several gun bullets.

In an eight-minute-long clip obtained by PRNigeria, Mr. Igbefo, a barrister, said he engaged the kidnappers in a ‘serious fight’ for over 30 minutes, before men of the community vigilante group and police were mobilized for a rescue operation.

“I had a running battle with the kidnappers for over 30 minutes. But God delivered me from their hands. I was able to fight them back even though they were wielding dangerous weapons. Using only a machete, I was able to strike and mortally injured one of the kidnappers. As you can see, these are bloodstains on the floor and walls of my living room,” he said while recording the video.

According to the NBA official, both him and his family members were saved from the attack.

Meanwhile, PRNigeria gathered that there was massive police reinforcement in the community, on Thursday morning.

This followed a directive issued by Mr. Bala Ciroma, the FCT Police Commissioner, said a security source.

According to the source, part of the reason for the police reinforcement is to protect Bar. Aigbefor’s life, which is now in danger, after posting the video of the botched kidnap attack at his residence.

The FCT Police Command has since launched a manhunt for the criminals.
