Third-Estate Elects Lawyers as President, Vice Presidents in Ilorin

The Third-Estate, a prominent and leading socio-cultural association of intellectuals and technocrats from Ilorin Emirate has elected legal practitioners as President and two Vice Presidents.

At its Annual General Meeting which was held in Kwara Hotel and online, Barrister Ibrahim Toyin Hassan was elected the new President while Barrister Ahmed Ladan Gobir and Barrister Hakeem Mustapha (SAN) were elected Vice President 1 and 2 respectively.

Other elected members of the Executive Council include Barrister Shehu Sambo as Legal Adviser; Mallam Yushau Abdulhameed Agaka, General Secretary; Mallam Monsur Alfanla, Asst. General Secretary and Alhaji Rasheed Hassan is the new Treasurer.

Alhaji Shuaib Ibrahim (NPN) was elected Publicity Secretary and the spokesperson of the association while
Alhaji Abdulkareem Lanre Gidado and Mallam Mohammed Aluko were
Ex officio for Diaspora and Nigeria respectively.

The outgone President of Third-Estate, Mallam Ahmed Bolaji Nagode in his remarks before the election listed some of the achievements recorded during his tenure which included provision of scholarship for indigent students, medical outreach for vulnerable people, Boreholes in selected communities, contribution of N1,000,000 to Covid-19 Emirate Palative Fund, Training and Youth Empowerment programmes among others.

He said: “On assumption of office on Sunday the 16th of April 2017, we resolved to consolidate on the gains of the previous Executives by continuing the implementation of the already established laudable programmes which included – Ramadan radio programme, annual dinner lecture, scholarship to indigent students, provision of borehole water for communities amongst others.”

In his inaugural speech, the newly elected President, Barrister Toyin Hassan commended efforts of the immediate past executves and the contributions of past presidents in the successes recorded by the association.

He promised to continue on the good works of his predecessor and build more with the cooperation of all.

He therefore, sought the cooperation of members in carrying out the mandates of the association.
