Gov Ganduje Frees 123 Convicts from Kano Prisons
The Governor of Kano state, His Excellency, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, in the spirit of the eid-el-fitr celebration, paid fines and compensation of 123 offenders in the various custodial centres in the state.
The Governor who was in the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Goron-Dutse, Kano, also gave N5000 each to the released offenders as transport fare to their various communities.

He urged the offenders who benefitted from the gesture to go and sin no more. He further adviced them to refrain from criminal acts that may bring them back to the correctional centre, urging them to engage themselves productively.
While welcoming the Governor to the custodial centre, the Controller of Corrections, Kano state Command, Suleiman T. Suleiman, appreciated the his kind gesture. He stated that the kind gesture by the governor will go a long way to decongest the correctional centres in the state.
The Controller further stressed that the new Nigerian Correctional Service Act 2019 has brought reforms in the penal administration in Nigeria, and craved the support of the state government towards its full implementation.
