Police Tackles Armed Bandits in Zamfara, Katsina

JOINT POLICE / VIGILANTE OPERATIONS NEUTRALISES TEN (10) SUSPECTED ARMED BANDITS IN HAYIN DAUDU VILLAGE OF GUSAU LGA,

In its continued onslaught against the activities of recalcitrant bandits and other criminal elements in the State.

Yesterday at about 11pm in the night, Police Tactical operatives deployed to Mada axis in a Joint operations with the Vigilante group of HAYIN DAUDU Village and environ in MADA District of Gusau LGA, responded to a distress call received from the Village that, armed bandits in their large number stormed the area with intent to attack the innocent people of the village.The bandits who were armed with sophisticated weapons heavily engaged to a gun duel by the joint Police /Vigilante operatives, as a result of the encounter, Ten bandits were neutralised while others escaped with a possible gun shot wounds.

Normalcy was restored in the area with rigorous confidence building patrol being intensfied to forestall further attack on the communities.

The Commissioner of Police commended the collaborative efforts of the Vigilante and other partners in crime fighting for their resilience and urged them to sustain the tempo.

ARREST OF SUSPECTED BANDITS/KIDNAPPERS/ARMED ROBBERS/CATTLE RUSTLERS: During the period under review the Command has engaged suspected bandits in gun battles in Kafur, Danja, Dutsinma, Safana, Batsari and Makera Funtua neutralizes five (5) bandits, arrested over fifteen (15) suspected bandits and recovered three (3) locally fabricated rifles with ten (10) rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and locally made pellets. In the same vein, the Command succeeded on 15/05/2021 in arresting the following suspected bandits:
Bala Alh. Idi, ‘M’, aged 25yrs of Dagarawa village, Safana
Auwalu Yahaya, ‘M’, aged 20yrs of the same address
Isah Tukur, ‘M’, aged 22yrs of Kuki village, Charanchi
Jume Bello, ‘M’, aged 18yrs of the same address
Musa Abubakar, ‘M’, aged of Tashar Mai Alewa, Bauchi state.
Suspect Bala Alh Idi confessed to have participated in several cattle rustlings and kidnappings at villages in Safana and Dutsinma LGAs. He stated that some months ago himself with other members of his syndicate (now at large), comprising of one Hamidu (now late), Ali and Rabe, armed with AK 47 rifles (hired from one Sanusi) attacked the house of one Nasiru Danmajalisa at Sokoto Rima Quarters, Dutsinma, kidnapped one person and rustled some cows. He further confessed that sometimes last year himself, suspect Auwalu Yahaya and others attacked Takawa village, Safana LGA and rustled six (6) cows. While Musa Abubakar, ‘M’, aged 19yrs of Tashar Mai Alewa, Bauchi state was arrested at Sheme village, Faskari LGA at around 01:00hrs, suspiciously surveilling the village for possible attack. In the course of investigation, suspect confessed to have participated in many cattle rustlings and kidnappings at Danmusa and Safana LGAs of the state. Investigation is ongoing. The Command also on 08/05/2021 recovered sixty-nine (69) rustled cows from bandits after a fierce gun duel at Kwantai and Dan Farin Dutse villages of Faskari LGA of Katsina state.

ARREST OF FAKE HEALTH WORKER/MEDICAL PERSONNEL WHO SPECIALIZES IN TREATING BANDITS: A fake medical personnel, Musa Shamsudin, ‘M’, aged 25yrs, an indigene of Kogi state but residing at Kankara was suspected of always going into the forest to treat sick and wounded bandits. In the course of investigation, some quantities of drugs were recovered in his possession. He was alleged to have disappeared from Kankara on the day in which Kankara school boys were abducted by bandits and later resurfaced. Investigation is ongoing.
ARREST OF A SUSPECTED RAPIST: One Mustapha Jibrin, ‘M’, aged 18yrs of Kan-Tudu village, Kankara, was arrested in connection with a rape of an eleven years, old girl, (name withheld). In the course of investigation suspect confessed to have forcefully had unlawful sexual intercourse with the girl. Victim was seriously wounded on her private part and was taken to General hospital, Katsina for treatment.
ARREST OF SOCIAL MISCREANTS OTHERWISE KNOWN AS KAURAYE AND ATTEMPT TO COMMIT AN OFFENCE TO WIT CULPABLE HOMICIDE: On 17/05/2021 at about 14:30hrs, the command succeeded in arresting the trio of 1. Aliyu Yusuf, ‘m’, aged 18yrs, 2. Hassan Rabi’u, ‘m’, aged 18yrs and Mohd Lawal, ‘m’, aged 18yrs, notorious Kauraye, who criminally conspired and stabbed one Mohd Abubakar, ‘m’, aged 18yrs with a sharp knife as a result of which, he sustained a deep cut on the left side of his chest. He was taken to General Hospital, Katsina and was admitted. In the course of investigation, suspects confessed to the commission of the offence. Investigation is ongoing.
