Avoid Reportage Giving Publicity to Criminals, New DDI tells Media
Media operators in the country have been urged to jettison sensational headlines that give undue publicity to perpetrators of crimes undermining national security.
The call was made on Friday in Abuja by the newly-decorated Defence Spokesperson, Major General Olufemi Sawyer.
Mr Sawyer said the support of the media and citizens are needed for all the military operations in order to surmount the nation’s various security challenges.
He promised to foster professionally Armed Forces capable of effectively meeting constitutional operative, as his task and responsibility as Director of Defence Information, DDI, are to project the image of the military apparatus.

“It’s indeed the clarion call and rare opportunity to contribute my quota as the new image maker and mouthpiece of the Armed Forces of Nigeria towards the realization of leadership focus of the Chief of Defence Staff.
“I will continue to work round the clock in surmounting the nation’s numerous security challenges which include terrorism, oil bunkering, insurgency, militancy, kidnapping, banditry among others.”
He is optimistic that various security challenges will in no distant time be a thing of the past judging from the possible feelers emanating from the theatres of operation.
He, therefore, appreciated the Chief of Defence Staff and the Army Chief for his consideration as the spokesperson of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
