Theatre Commander Charges Troops on Training and Professionalism
The Theatre Commander (TC) Headquarters Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Major General Christopher Musa has said training and retraining of troops in the theatre is fundamental to the overall performance and professionalism in the military.
The TC made this known at the graduation ceremony of the Theatre Headquarter’s in-house Train-The-Trainer course for students/participants of batch 3 course at Maimalari Cantonment.
on Friday, 6 August, 2021.
Gen Musa said training is considered as a matter of necessity to finetune the attitude and conduct of troops in reacting to unsuspected enemy approach, antics and mode of operation in the ongoing fight against insurgency.
While commending instructors for their untiring efforts, contributions and commitment towards the training, the Theatre Commander said training has further enhanced the overall performance composure, and general conduct of troops as well as changed the narratives and mode of operations across the entire Theatre.
He also said the previous classes of the Train-the-Trainers class has been improved though more improvement are still needed which will be captured in the subsequent course.
He stressed that the multiplier effects of the training was evident in the recent massive surrendering of Boko Haram Terrorists and their Islamic State of West Africa Province Counterparts through the combined efforts of troops of OPHK, intensive air interdiction and artillery bombardment.
Adding that “Training is the bedrock of every army, and the idea is for you to go back and impart the knowledge to officers and soldiers in your various locations to enhance optimal performance”. He therefore directed that all officers and soldiers in the theatre must undergo this training.
According to the Theatre Training Officer (TTO) Brigadier General Ebenezer Oduyebo who gave the course appreciation, stressed that the course is designed to cover some of the most observed areas where troops needed more improvement and competence.
The graduation ceremony was witnessed by the Deputy Theatre Commander, Major General Ibrahim Jallo, the Acting General Officer Commanding 7 Division/ Commander Sector 1 OPHK, Brigadier General Abdulwahab Eyitayo, Component Commanders and Principal Staff Officers from HQ OPHK, Units/ Formation Commanders amongst others.
