Ohanaeze Ndigbo Hails Buhari’s Visit to Imo State Despite Threats

Despite the desperation of some elements aimed at disrupting or sabotaging the epochal working visit of the Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR to Ala Igbo, earlier today, it is exciting to acknowledge that the visit was a maximum success, in line with the stated objective of the visit.

Unlike in the other visits by the President, which were specifically to canvas for votes from Imo people, this visit was purely business oriented, and all the businesses were clinically executed without any hitch. The drastic reduction in vehicular and human traffic across Owerri, the Imo State capital, counted as a positive coincidence, as it helped in making the job of security operatives and others charged with other logistical assignments, easier.

His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma deserves every commendation for his ability to mobilize the right calibre of Igbo intelligentsia, businessmen, military veterans, the political class, religious and traditional leaders to represent the Igbo interest in the Stakeholders meeting held at the Imo State Government House. The bipartisan audience comprising of top PDP, APC and APGA leaders is highly impressive.

The successful inauguration of some strategic public infrastructure conceived and executed by the current administration in Imo State is also an exciting development which should delight every progress loving Igbo youth.

It is also noteworthy that the President promised to assist the State and by extension Ndi Igbo in meeting our infrastructural needs and as well as tackling security challenges in the State and the region. This is a welcomed promise, which the governor and other leaders in the zone must follow up on.

The speech by the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, His Excellency Ambassador Professor George Obiozor, captures the wishes and feelings of every rational and patriotic Igbo, and the consideration of these demands by the Commander-in-Chief shall go a long way in dousing tension across Ala Igbo.

The President deserves every commendation for his Statesmanly speech, in which among other things he assured Ndigbo of his administration’s readiness to take deliberate steps to strengthen the confidence of the average Igbo in the unity of our dear country, Nigeria.

The support of Igbo youths to the success and peacefulness of this Presidential visit is most manifested in the total absence of any negative incidence throughout the period of the President’s stay in Imo. It is very clear to any observer that Igbo youths are neither barbarians nor terrorists, hence, the law-abiding Igbo youths clearly overwhelmed the misguided elements amongst us to ensure that the President’s visit recorded maximum success, to the regrets of sponsors of disharmony and destruction.

Congratulations are therefore in order for the governor of Imo State, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma for putting together what may go into the books as one of the most successful State visits in the history of Imo State and to the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Ambassador Professor George Obiozor, for articulately passing the message that has bogged every Igbo mind to the Commander-in-Chief and to everyone who contributed to this success.

And the highest gratitude to God Almighty for a Clement weather, journey mercies and His obvious Unction to the ongoing revival of Igbo nation.
