Procurements at Refugee Commission in line with Public Act- NCFRMI

The procurement processes and approvals in National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) are in line with the Public Procurement Act.

Therefore, some malicious allegations against the Honourable Federal Commissioner (HFC) and the management of the Commission are fake, baseless, untrue and misconceptuous.

All the Commission’s procurement processes and approvals are gotten in line with the Public Procurement Act, 2007. Therefore, there is transparency, probity, accountability in all of the Commission’s operations in the protection and assistance of all Persons of Concern and in the discharge of the mandates and objectives of NCFRMI.

It is necessary for the public to note that; NCFRMI is a Federal Government establishment under the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajia Sadiya Umar Farouq. The Commission is under the leadership of Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim who assumed duty barely six months, precisely on June 4, 2021. The Commission has a Board of Directors charged to regulate its affairs in order to effectively deliver on its mandates.

It is worthy to note that Commission is committed to strengthening its internal framework in line with Public Service Rules. Hence, deployments will continue to be carried out as provided in Chapter 2, Section 5, 020502 (v) of PSR, which states that where it is in the “… public interest, an officer can be seconded to the service of another government, approved body or recognized international organization.”

Furthermore, in public service, internal staff posting and transfer of Pool staff is a routine matter. This is in line with due process, transfer/posting to the commission is done by relevant authorities.

In line with Global Compact on Refugees, the Commission is committed to promote civil rights and will continue to enhance self-reliance for all Persons of Concern as we enjoy very robust cordial relationship with local and international partners in the effective discharge of its mandate in all areas.

Overall, the HFC and the new management of NCFRMI have designed the strategic roadmap on how to deliver on the Commission’s mandates/objectives for the interest of all within the operational framework of our supervisory ministry (FMHADMSD) and shall not allow any distraction but remain focused in discharging our duties professionally and responsibly.
