Young Peace Advocate, Faisal Ahmed, Authors Book on Girl-Child Education

Minister of State for Science, Technology and Innovation, Barrister Mohammed Hassan Abdullahi, has unveiled a fictional book on the girl-child education.

The book revolves around a young girl, Faiza, who defied all odds to excel, by fulfilling her academic ambition in an environment characterized by ‘regressive’ cultural practices and unwholesome activities that hamstring the potentials of teenage girls.

The novel titled: “It’s My Life & I’m In Charge,” was authored by Faisal Abdullahi Ahmed, a peace ambassador and staunch advocate. It was launched during a colourful ceremony in Abuja on Saturday.

In his remark before unveiling the literary masterpiece produced by Ahmed, the Science, Technology and Innovation Minister, disclosed that the content of the book tremendously resonates with the federal government’s policy of promoting the girl-child education.

“It is always good for young persons to work hard towards actualizing their aspirations. So, whenever you want to write a book, take your time to study it critically, review and pass on to other people to do same in order to get it perfectly,” he said.

The book reviewer, Habiba Adamu Abdullahi, who is the Founder of Great Minds Children and Youth Foundation, GMCYF, said the fictional Faiza’s dedication and hard work, as captured in the book, gave her the courage to conquer her problems and finally excel in life.

She said: “The story of Faiza should be a lesson, as perseverance, hard work, honesty and modesty are necessary to thrive in life. She excelled in a society bedevilled by rape, drug abuse, and child trafficking, among other heinous acts.”

The author, in a remark, explained that his book greatly highlighted the virtue of educating young girls and women, especially in our contemporary society.

Chairman of the occasion and Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage (rtd), felicitated with the author over the landmark achievement of writing a ‘classic’ book.

Bage, who was represented by Alh. Ahmed Zakari, the District Head of Uke, urged Ahmed to continue on the ‘right’ path of campaigning for the empowerment of the girl-child and poor Nigerian women, through his writings.

The author, Abdullahi Ahmed, is a graduate of Banking and Finance from Nassarawa State University, Keffi. He is an Ambassador with ‘Global Peace Initiative’, as well as the Project Officer of Great Minds Children and Youth Foundation.
