For Peace in Zamfara, NUJ Cautions Islamic Clerics Against Inciting ‘Statements’
The Nigerian Union of Journlists, NUJ, has cautioned residents and Islamic clerics in Zamfara State against uttering inciting statements, capable of jeopardizing the fragile peace enjoyed in the North West State.
Secretary of NUJ Zone ‘A’, Comrade Abdulrazak Bello, made the appeal at the ‘2022 Ramadan Lecture/Award Presentation’, organized by the Zamfara Radio NUJ Chapel.
“This timely event is apt and very significant considering its goal, which is to redirect our scholars (ulamas) on the importance of using decent words while preaching, not only, during the holy month of Ramadan, but rather, even, before and after Ramadan,” he said.

According to Bello, modern-day journalism calls for adherence to professionalism by avoiding yellow journalism, journalism of hatred, and ethnocentrism.
Commending the Zamfara Radio NUJ Chapel for organizing the lecture and award event, the Zone “A” NUJ scribe, reaffirmed his commitment and determination to ensure unity, progress, and overall development of all journalists in the State, and across the Northwest, in general.
“Let us try as much as we can to transform our union in all ramifications, promote unity amongst members and be very creative to uplift our State, Union, and our persons as posterity awaits us.
“Journalists in Zamfara Stare are equally enjoined to key into the efforts of the present leadership of the NUJ under the auspices of Chief Chris Isiguzo in ensuring professionalism and promoting modern journalism across the country,” Bello solicited.
