NAF Jets Thwart ISWAP Road Blockade, Kill 13 Terrorists, Rescue 5 Captives
Nigerian Air Force, NAF, alpha jets have killed no fewer than 13 Islamic State of West African Province, ISWAP, terrorists in the North East, reports PRNigeria.
The ISWAP fighters eliminated, early Monday, had mounted a road block at Goni Masari, along Maiduguri – Damaturu Road, in Borno State, it was learnt.
According to an intelligence report obtained by NAF, the terrorists, after successfully mounting the road blockade, abducted some motorists and passengers, before military airstrikes pounded them.
According to a Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, involved in the operation, five civilians were rescued by the air troops, in the military onslaught.
The Commander, who declined mentioning his name to PRNigeria, recalled how troops neutralized over 13 ISWAP terrorists, injured many others and also recovered their abandoned gun trucks.

He said: “Upon receiving an intelligence on some ISWAP terrorists’ mounting road block and subsequently abducting motorists at Goni Masari along Maiduguri – Damaturu Road, earlier today, two NAF aircrafts, under Operation Hadin Kai, were immediately scrambled to the highway.
“On arrival, it was discovered that the terrorists had set ablaze two petrol Tankers and two other civilian vehicles before abducting and fleeing with five passengers.
“The aircraft subsequently scanned the direction of the fleeing terrorists at the West of Goni Masari.
“On hearing the sound of the NAF aircrafts, the terrorists who were in three gun trucks reportedly hide under trees. The NAF crew carefully scanned the area, and were able to sight the terrorists taking cover under trees.
“The crew successfully engaged the terrorists who later abandoned their captives and fled in disarray, with an unspecified number of them killed, while others sustained injuries.
“The crew remained overhead and later directed army troops and members of a Civilian Joint Task Force, CJTF, to locations of the abandoned gun trucks, which were successfully recovered.
“The kidnapped victims, on the other hand, were successfully rescued, and reunited with their loved ones”.
