The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Dr. Nasir Sani Gwarzo, Mni, has disclosed that the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation is revolutionizing the Federal Civil Service for greater efficiency and productivity.
Dr Gwarzo, who represented the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan disclosed this while fielding questions from media men after a Special Juma’at Prayer Service at the National Mosque, in commemoration of the 2022 Civil Service Week.
He stated that the Head of Service has introduced a lot of changes and reform programmes within the Service, since assuming duty. He added that the reform initiatives have several components; one of which is Performance Management System (PMS), geared towards improving the quality of performance of civil servants, as well quality delivery of service to Nigerians.
Dr Gwarzo, also praised the Head of Civil Service of the Federation for taking bold strides in introducing innovative reforms in the Civil Service, saying that in the next few years, Nigerians will start seeing the positive effects of these reform measures.
He further disclosed that Performance Management, as being embraced globally “is very vigorous, full of trainings and re-trainings and mentorship, which is systematic.” He added that PMS is not just evaluation-driven but preparing the civil servants in advance to take responsibility in discharging their onerous duties.
Dr. Gwarzo prayed for the HoSF and her Management team to succeed, as well as God’s guidance and protection for the entire work-force.
While the officiating Imam for today’s prayer, Sheikh (Dr.) Ahmad Onilewura, lauded Civil Servants for their sacrifice to the nation and prayed for their continued protection and safetyin the face of many daunting challenges.
Sheikh Onilewura enjoined Civil Servants to shun corrupt practices by carrying out their official duties with utmost commitment and dedication to the nation.
