Yemi-Esan Launches 20 Buses for Civil Servants in FCT
Head of Service of the Federation, HoS, Dr. Folashada Yemi-Esan, has inaugurated the First Phase of the ‘Federal Civil Service Bus Scheme’.
The launching of the Scheme, held at the Eagles Square, was part of activities lined-up to commemorate the ‘2022 Civil Service Week’.
PRNigeria gathered that 20 high-capacity buses were procured for federal civil servants in the pilot phase of the project.
According to Yemi-Esan, the Federal Civil Service Bus Scheme is aimed at providing an efficient transportation system for workers living in the FCT and its outskirts.
“For social inclusion of civil servants living with disabilities, arrangements have been concluded with private sector operators to acquire customized buses that will be wheelchair accessible.
“The buses will have lower steps, customized ramps and spaces within the buses to enable physically-challenged staff on wheelchairs or crutches to commute with ease,” she said.
The pilot phase covers six routes of the FCT and its environs, while other routes will be inclusive in the nearest future.
