Female Troops Trained on Fire Fighting
In its effort to expose the female troops to the essentials of fire prevention, management and refreshing their consciousness on the impact of fire disaster, the Nigerian Army Women’s Corps (NAWC) has organized a 2 day seminar at the Nigerian Army Cyber Warfare School’s (NACWS) auditorium in Giri, Abuja.
The special guest of honour Brigadier General AC Adetoba, the Commandant (NACWS) while declaring the seminar open reiterated that, the changing dynamics of the NA operations in this era is such that, the female personnel cannot be left out in all ramifications, as they are vital to the attainment of all NA operational engagements. He therefore emphasized that, the capabilities of the female personnel need to be strengthened in order to provide the needed support in all military endeavors. General Adetoba further charged the participants to imbibe the maintenance culture of the firefighting equipment located in their various offices and accommodations.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Acting Commander NAWC Colonel DE Adamu added that, the lecture was aimed at educating participants on how to avoid fires and fire related incidents, create awareness on fire safety as well as their common causes and to inform participants of their personal responsibility towards fire safety during emergency situations. He further thanked the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya for providing the resources to host the seminar even in the face of competing demands and scarce resources.
The participants were tutored on Nature/Causes of Fire, Classification of Fire, Fire Extinguishing Methods, Fire Prevention and Protection, Evacuation Procedures, Good Housekeeping, Use of Fire Equipment amongst others.
In attendance were the Chief of Staff NAWC Colonel TA Akinbo, the Acting Coordinator 1 Women Special Operations Battalion (1WSOB) Major RS Agwai, the Acting CO Admin Battalion Captain OS Badewole and other staff officers of the Corps. Others were from Nigerian Army Aviation (NAV), Land Forces Simulation Centre Nigeria (LFSCN), Nigerian Army Farm and Ranches Ltd (NAFARL) and Nigerian Army Cyber Warfare School (NACWS).
