Military Bombardments Eliminate ISWAP Terrorists After Attack on Troops’ Base

At least, 21 Boko Haram terrorists have been killed by military bombardments in the Northeast, PRNigeria reports.

The insurgents were eliminated on Tuesday by two rotary and fixed-wing fighter helicopters of the Nigerian Air Force, NAF, at the Lake Chad axis in Borno State.

A military intelligence source, while confirming the NAF jets’ raid on Boko Haram terrorists, noted that the insurgents’ hideouts were also destroyed in their recent air interdiction mission conducted at Tumbun Jaki and Tumbun Murhu.

He told PRNigeria: “The successful air interdiction mission conducted on 11 July 2022 was based on credible intelligence on activities of the insurgents in the aforementioned locations and in response to the reported attacks on troops locations in Damasak and Mallam Fatori.

“In a well-coordinated air strike carried out using both fixed and rotary wing platforms of the Nigerian Air Force, the insurgents were seen fleeing in different directions and scampering for safety as their enclaves were struck in quick succession while their logistics base engulfed in flames.

“Some of the ISWAP Boko Haram fighters who managed to escape the bomb attacks to hide under thick vegetation were subsequently acquired and engaged with bombs and rockets. Information received from ground operatives indicates that over 21 insurgents were killed in the air strike.

“The Air Component in synergy with other sister Services will continue to sustain the air strikes against remnants of terrorists to deny them freedom of action and attacks on innocent citizens, especially during the rainy season”.
