Ministry Constructs 185 Solar-Powered Water Projects in 36 States
The Federal Ministry of Water has executed about 185 Solar-Powered water projects, across the states of the Federation.
Minister of Water Resources, Engr. Suleiman Adamu, who made the disclosure at a media briefing in Abuja today, said the Ministry also constructed 370 public sanitation facilities.
The Ministry also supported State Water Boards and Agencies in their operation to ensure uninterrupted water supply for the people, he added.
According to Adamu, their Water Resources Ministry further engaged 77,400 youth volunteers for Hand Washing and ODF campaigns ,which also created awareness on Open Defecation in Nigeria across 774 local government areas.

Speaking on the WASH campaign, the Minister, said only 83 local government areas are now Open Defecation Free in Nigeria, even though all the states have flagged off the Clean Nigeria Campaign.
He said: “The River Basin Development Authorities are being revitalised to deliver their mandates. Songhai model an integrated agricultural practice was introduced to boost agricultural production and achieve integrated rural d3velopment.
“To date, 253 farmlands have been leased to private sector for commercial farming out of which 182 are fully utilised.
“Also about 42 small dams gave been constructed across the nation by the River Basin Develooment Authorities while 6 of the dams are currentlybbeing utilised to support aquaculture farms.”
