Buhari Commends NSCDC’s Commitment to Capacity Building for PROs

President Muhammadu Buhari has commended the Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Abubakar Audi, for organising a three-day conference on strategic communications for state commandants and their public relations officers.

The President gave the commendation at the conference held at the Civil Defence Headquarters in Abuja, on Tuesday.

Buhari who was represented by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, stressed that communication is essential for security operations in the country.

“Without the leadership, there wouldn’t be this training for the Corps’ public relations officers which will strengthen their capacity to deliver their jobs professionally more than ever before,” he said.

He said that NSCDC has put public relations in a prime position.

On his part, the Commandant General said that the training and retraining of officers handling public relations units top the list of his priorities.

He urged the participants who came from their different commands across the country to maintain cordial relationship with the public and encourage intelligence sharing between the public and security agencies.

“This conference is organised to strengthen the capacity of our public relations officers across the country to enable them meet the global standards thereby earning the trust of the public.”

The Director General of the Department of Security Services (DSS), Yusuf Magaji, who was represented by the Service’s spokesperson, Peter Afunaya, commended the effort of the Corps in building the capacity of its communication officers.

Magaji charged the participants to utilise the knowledge they acquired to counter all efforts to undermine the country’s security as the 2023 general elections draw nearer.
