NSCDC Intercepts 25 Vandals in Abuja

25 suspected vandals have been intercepted by the officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, FCT Command.

The *Commandant, Dr Peter Maigari*, represented by the Head of Operations Department, *DCC Bawa Bala Bodinga* during the parade of the suspects at the Command headquarters stated that the arrest was done based on the intelligence tip off that revealed their modus operandi, saying they disguise as scavengers in the day time and are vandals at night, defacing critical national assets and infrastructures of the nation.

*DCC Bodinga* revealed that the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, *Muhammed Musa Bello* had banned the activities of scavengers in the territory thereby counting their operations as criminal, yet they have ceaselessly continued in sabotaging government properties.
It is on this note that the *FCT Commandant, Dr Peter Maigari* gave a raid order which lead to these arrests from different locations of the Federal Capital Territory with street light, solar panels, sacs, empty cans and plastics as exhibits.

Investigations and intelligence gatherings have also revealed their market places, and further investigations are ongoing for necessary actions.

Some of the suspects were quizzed, and they claimed that they were making a living from scavenging.
*DCD Bodinga* sternly warned criminal to desist completely from every form of criminal activities and recommended other legal means of meeting ends.
“Regardless of the reason, anyone caught in any form of criminality will face the law squarely,” he said.

*Deputy Commandant Bodinga,* winding down, beckoned on other security agencies for continued synergize with the command to achieve the common goal, which is to rid the territory of criminality and to ensure the safety of life and property.
In the same vain, he called in the general public to provide the NSCDC with necessary information that will help the corps discharge their statutory responsibilities effectively.
