NSCDC Curtails activities of Pipelines Vandals in Ogun State

NSCDC Curtails activities of Pipelines Vandals in Ogun State

Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps have not only been proactive, professional, collaborative but also open in its onerous task of ridding the State and its environs of vandals, bunkering and other illegal activities relating to the management of pipelines in the State.

The attention of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ogun State Command Headquarters, Abeokuta, has been drawn to a story making the rounds on internet erroneously and unprofessionally alleging the State Command of evading to arrest illegal bunkering perpetrators in Ogun State and with this headline: _”NANS urges NSCDC intensify efforts at ending illegal bunkering in Ogun”._

While not being opposed to stakeholders and institutions alike offering opinions and observations to enhance better service delivery, professional journalism calls for fairness and balance in all gamut of its reportage which this purported report neither presents nor represents.

The content of the news item is not only vague, inconsistent, one-sided, unbalanced, personal and unprofessional in its contents and submissions but outrightly a total falsehood against the true representation of the Corps.

The Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps have not only been proactive, professional, collaborative but also open in its onerous task of ridding the State and its environs of vandals, bunkering and other illegal activities relating to the management of pipelines in the State.

Let me also clearly State that the writer’s claim that the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, National Headquarters, Abuja, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, PhD, mni, OFR, should deploy Special Monitoring Teams against illegal bunkering in the State is to the best of his knowledge as the Commandant General already has in place a Commandant General’s Intelligence Response Squad/Team across all the States of the federation, Ogun State inclusive.

Meanwhile, aside from the Commandant General’s Intelligence Response Squad/Team, it also has a Special Surveillance Team that coordinates and reports back activities of all States Including: seizures, forfeitures, amongst others that generate revenues for the government. NSCDC has also been among several joint task forces including Operation Whyte set up to curb these activities.

The Commandant General is poised for excellence, efficiency and professionalism in service delivery within the Corps and would not tolerate any form of incompetence on the part of his personnel irrespective of the rank.

To this end, I want to also thank the writer for bringing this to the knowledge of the Corps in Ogun State as it will make us look more inwards especially in the areas of our core mandates as the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, across the federation, is bent at giving the best of services with all sense of humility and efficiency in service delivery.
