    Police List Achievements in Bauchi, Katsina Commands

    ACHIEVEMENTS RECORDED WITHIN THE YEAR 2022

    The Bauchi State Police Command under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police CP Aminu Alhassan psc(+) wishes to update the general public on the successes recorded in the year 2022 by the Command in the area of crime prevention and detection during the period under review is evidence as regards decline in all categories of offenses reported during the period under review, the Command’s commitment to ensure the safety of lives and property, citizens and residents within the State has intensified 24/7 round the clock; Patrols, guards duty and raids of identified black spots with a view to effectively checkmate crime and criminalities in the State. Subsequently, the Command has put in place proactive measures through robust synergy with relevant stakeholders, inter-agency collaboration, and visibility policing. Also, sustained effort was put emplace with the necessary valves to comprehensively secure all critical infrastructures across the length and breadth of the state including but not limited to INEC facilities.

    Achievements recorded within the period under review:

    The Command within the period under review, recorded seven hundred and twenty-four (724) cases and arrested over one thousand four hundred and sixty-five (1465) suspects in connection to various crimes committed within and outside the State.

    The summary of major achievements recorded is hereby synopsized.

    The Command has recorded eighty-one (81) cases of Culpable Homicide; one hundred and eighty-four (184) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases. ninety (90) cases of Armed Robbery, two hundred and nine (209) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases. Nineteen (19) cases of Attempted Murder, forty-one (41) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases. One hundred and six (106) cases of Rape, one hundred and twenty-nine (129) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases. sixty (60) cases of Kidnapping, one hundred and fifty-seven (157) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases. Thirteen (13) cases of Unnatural Offence, fifteen (15) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases. Twenty-seven (27) cases of Grievous Hurt, sixty-three (63) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases. Five (5) cases of Assault, eight (8) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases. Thirty-five (35) cases of Theft, one hundred and thirty-three (133) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases. One hundred and fifty-two (152) cases of False pretense/cheating, two hundred and five (205) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases. Seven (7) cases of Forgery, nine (9) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases. eight (8) cases of receiving stolen property, seventeen (17) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases. Eleven (11) cases of Unlawful possession, one hundred and five (105) suspects were arrested. Four (4) cases of Forgery of currency notes, four (4) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases. Two (2) cases of Arson/mischief, seven (7) suspects were arrested in connection with the case. four (4) cases of Breach of public peace, seven (7) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases. Eleven (11) cases of Offence against Firearms, fifteen (15) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases. Two (2) cases of Narcotics, five (5) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases. Fifty-six (56) cases of other offenses against persons, one hundred and twenty-one (121) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases. Twenty-six (26) cases of other offenses against properties, fifty (50) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases.

    Consequently, the Command during operations rescued fifty-three (53) kidnapped victims from the kidnappers. Moreover, three different hideouts of the kidnappers were destroyed and neutralized twelve (12) as a result of the gun duel.

    One (1) SMG sterlet with thirty (30) live ammunitions
    One (1) hundred and forty-five (145) live ammunition
    Three (3) fabricated SMG
    Twenty (20) local revolver made gun
    Ten (10) Dan gun
    Twenty-four (24) fabricated Dane-guns
    Twenty (20) cartridges
    Forty-five (45) machetes
    One (1) SMG with ninety (90) live ammunition

    Other Exhibits recovered include;

    One (1) AK-47 rifle
    Two (2) assault rifles
    Eight (8) live ammunition
    One (1) pistol revolver with five (5) rounds of ammunition
    Eight (8) different phones
    One (1) locally-made pistol revolver
    Thirteen (13) Den guns
    Nine (9) Fabricated revolver
    One (1) single barrel
    One (1) double barrel
    Twenty-three (23) live cartridges
    Fourteen (14) Motorcycles
    Five (5) Laptops
    Fifty-two (52) different handsets
    Thirty-one (31) ATM cards of different Bank

    Recovered Vehicles

    Eight (8) different models of Vehicle

    Monetary recovered exhibits

    Sixteen million six hundred and fifty-nine thousand naira (N16,659,000:00k).
    Twenty-nine (29) pieces of CEFA France currency suspected to be counterfeit.
    Two hundred and thirty-four (234) pieces of 1000 naira note denomination Nigerian currency suspected to be counterfeit.
    Three thousand, five hundred and ninety (3,590) pieces of $100 Dollar suspected to be counterfeit currency.

    It is pertinent to emphasize here these aforementioned successes were made possible through information availed to the Police from members of the public, who as partners in progress with the Nigeria Police share our desires and aspirations to enable a safe and secure environment for all residents in the State.

    The Command has put in place crime preventive measures which include visibility policing, community partnership, constant raids of black spots, regular foot and vehicular patrols, surveillance on buildings and vulnerable areas, stop and search, and intelligence-led policing through partnership with sisters’ security agencies and other non-governmental organizations in order to nip in the bud, all forms of crime/criminals and their hideouts in the state.

As we navigate towards the shores of the 2023 General Election and beyond, Bauchi State Police Command once again appeal to the Political stakeholders and their party loyalist to be guided by the dictates of the Electoral Act 2022 and other relevant Laws of the Land while shining actions inimical to the peaceful ambiance enjoying by the residents in Bauchi State.

    END OF THE YEAR PRESS CONFERENCE BY THE COMMISSIONER OF POLICE, KATSINA STATE COMMAND, CP SHEHU UMAR NADADA, psc, HELD ON FRIDAY, 30TH DECEMBER, 2022 AT THE COMMAND HEADQUARTERS, KATSINA

    Gentlemen of the Press, it is my pleasure to welcome you to this Press Conference, being the last in the year 2022. Indeed, it is no doubt a challenging period for the Command; nevertheless, the Command has recorded tremendous successes against the menace of banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery and other forms of crime and criminality in the state. The year 2022 saw a reduction in crime rate in the state as compared with the previous year.

    2. I want to use this opportunity to thank the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc (+), NPM, NEAPS, fdc, CFR, for his tremendous support to the Command, without which these major successes wouldn’t have been achieved.
    3. Let me quickly appreciate the effort of the State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, CFR, the Executive Governor of Katsina State, for his unwavering support to the security agencies. My appreciation also goes to the two Emirs of Katsina and Daura for their cooperation and fatherly guidance.

    4. I will like to also commend the concerted efforts of all officers and men of the Command for their loyalty and commitment towards protection of life and property as well as ensuring public safety and order in the state. Let me also pay tributes to our gallant officers who have paid the supreme price in the line of duty. It was sad to state that during the period under review, the Command lost one of its best commanders in the fight against terrorism in the state, Area Commander, Dutsinma, ACP Aminu Umar and four others. May their souls rest in perfect peace and may the God Almighty grant their families the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. Also those who suffered different degrees of injuries in the cause of this campaign, may God Almighty restore their health to normalcy.

    5. Notwithstanding the modest achievements, more still need to be done next year which will start next tomorrow. It is absolutely imperative to warn that terrorists and their collaborators or informants should either surrender or be dealt with according to the extant laws of the land.

    6. So far, the Command recorded the following achievements in the year under review:
    A total number of one thousand, one hundred and two (1,102) suspects were arrested in connection with seven hundred and five (705) reported cases. While a total number of nine hundred and eighty-nine (989) arrested suspects are undergoing prosecution in various competent Courts of Law in the State.
    A total number of one hundred and seventy-seven (177) suspected Armed Robbers were arrested and one hundred and sixty-nine (169) suspects charged to court while eight (8) cases are under investigation.
    Two hundred and forty-one (241) suspected bandits/kidnappers/ and informants to bandits, were arrested; in which two hundred and thirty-nine (239) suspects have been charged to court while sixteen (16) suspects are under investigation.
    In the course of this campaign, fifty-four (54) bandits were neutralized in various gun battles while five (5) police officers paid the supreme price.
    One thousand and ninety-two (1,092) domestic animals were recovered, which consist of seven hundred and twenty-seven (727) cows, three hundred and seventy (370) sheep and goats were recovered from the hoodlums.
    Two hundred and sixty-six (266) suspects were arrested in one hundred and forty-five (245) reported cases of rape and unnatural offences; in which two hundred and sixty (260) suspects have been charged to court. Six suspects are undergoing investigation.
    Forty-six (46) victims of Human Trafficking were rescued in four (4) reported cases, which were transferred to NAPTIP office for further investigation.
    One hundred and twenty-two (122) kidnapped victims were also rescued from suspected bandits/kidnappers during the period under review.
    Twenty (22) suspected stolen motor vehicles were recovered and eighteen (18) stolen/bandits’ motorcycles were recovered. Twenty-seven (27) suspected motor vehicles thieves arrested and have been charged to court
    Seventy-one (71) suspected vandals were arrested and large amount of cable wire/other electrical items recovered. They have been charged to court for prosecution.
    Twenty-one (21) suspected Indian Hemp/illicit drugs traffickers and suppliers of drugs to bandits were arrested and large quantity of illicit drugs such as Pentazocine injections, Tramadol, etc, and substances such as Jerricans loaded with “SUCK and DIE” Solution, Rubber solution, spirits etc, and dried leaves suspected to be Canavis were recovered. Nineteen (19) suspects have been charged to court, two (2) were transferred to NDLEA for further investigation.
    Arms and ammunition recovered:
    14 AK 47 riffles
    2 Locally fabricated AK 47 rifles
    19 Locally made guns
    81 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition of AK 47 rifle

    7. Members of the Fourth Realm, I will like to acknowledge and appreciate your immense cooperation and partnership with the command. You have honestly and avidly displayed fraternity and collaboration towards strengthening the relative peace and security in the state through your fair and balanced reportage of the Command activities. The fight against crime and criminality is so dynamic and not an easy one but I urge you to continue to project the hard and good work of the Police and other security agencies to the general public.

    8. I must acknowledge the concerted efforts of sister security agencies in the fight against terrorism and other crimes in the state. The Community Policing drive in the state is yielding positive result. My special appreciation goes to members of the community who have left the comfort of their houses to join hands with the security agencies, and join “The Vigilante Groups”. You have made us proud and increase the morale of our personnel in this fight. Let me also use this opportunity to thank the good people of the state for their unflinching support, understanding and cooperation to the Command. I am very grateful to you all. I wish to also call on the maximum support of all and sundry in the aid of security agencies in the state as we cannot do it alone. Thanks and God bless.
