2023 Elections: Police Train 80 Officers on Preparedness in Borno

Between 15/02/2023 to 19/02/2023, Eighty (80) Police Officers of Borno State Police Command, Zone 15 Police Headquarters maiduguri and the Police college (PCM) Maiduguri received training on “The Role of Nigeria Police Force in Credible Election in 2023”, at startwart hospitality event Hall, krikasama behind Hebron restaurant borno, maiduguri under the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) Training Programmes.

Participants were drafted from the rank of Police Constable (PC) to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP).

2. Topics discussed during the training workshop include;

i. Introduction on the historical background of Elections in Nigeria under successive Administration including colonial rule.

ii. Standard Operational Guidelines and Rules for Security Personnel

iii. Military incursion in politics.

iv. New Electoral Act; Key Changes and Impact

v. Statutory duties of the police in electoral process.

vi. Factors to be considered while preparing for an election e.g operational orders, surveillance and intelligence gathering.

3. The Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command, CP ABDU UMAR mnim psc fdc who is ably represented by the deputy commissioner of police department of administration,DCP AM BELLO stated that this training follows a series of training received by Officers of Borno State Police Command within the election campaign periods. He appreciates the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc(+), NPM, NEAPS, fdc, CFR for his commitment to training, retaining and ensuring quality service. He commended the effort of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) for the training programmes initiated. He charged the participants to use the knowledge received and reciprocate the gesture by ensuring quality service delivery. At end of the training, the participants were asked whether they are ready for the election with the level of training received, and they all assured the public that with the level of training acquired the election would definitely be hitch Free.
