NSCDC BULLETIN: How State Commands are Preparing for the 2023 Elections
In order to ensure a peaceful, free, fair and credible 2023 general elections, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Plateau State Command have deployed One Thousand Eight Hundred and Thirty Six personnel across the state.
The State Commandant, Alexander Barunde, said the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Plateau State Command and other security agencies are well prepared for the general elections and have made adequate and appropriate deployment to ensure the elections are free of peace breaches and any form of break down of law and order.
The NSCDC assures the general public of the readiness and preparedness of personnel to adhere strictly to the electoral Act, rules of engagement for the conduct of elections and other extant laws of the land.
Citizens are encouraged to exercise their civic rights without any fear of molestations and conduct themselves in a peaceful manner worthy of patriots.
They are also urged to report any suspected persons, groups of persons and movements that could lead to breach of peace, breakdown of law and order or spark electoral violence.
The Commandant warns all miscreants to eschew forthwith whatever plans that might be conceived to cause trouble before, during and or after the process as the long arm of the law will definitely catch up with them and deal with them decisively.

NSCDC ASSISTANT COMMANDANT GENERAL IN CHARGE OF ZONE K AWKA CHARGES PERSONNEL TO BE ACQUAINTED WITH THE PROCEDURES GUIDING THE CONDUCT OF ELECTION AHEAD OF FEBRUARY, 25, 2023 ELECTION.
As Nigerians prepare for the Presidential and National Assembly election on Saturday, February 25 2023, the Assistant Commandant General in charge of NSCDC Zone K Awka, ACG Solomon Iyamu, fsi has charged personnel to be deployed for the exercise to be acquinted with the procedures guiding the conduct of 2023 elections. Addressing officers and men of the command at the state command Headquarters Awka, ACG Iyamu said with the massive deployment of personnel, citizens are at liberty to make free choices in a free, fair and peaceful manner.
He reiterated the call for officers to be apolitical, be at their best and avoid act capable of bringing shame to the Corps.
Meanwhile, the State Commandant of NSCDC in Anambra State, Comdt.Isidore Chikere has assured all residents that the NSCDC in collaboration with all the sister security agencies are committed to ensuring the security of everyone in the state through the deployment of officers to all the polling units and INEC designated centres in the State to build a sense of security and confidence among voters and INEC officials in the electioneering process.
The NSCDC State boss stated this on Wednesday, February 22 , 2023 during his last minute preparatory meeting with all the Area Commanders, Divisional Officers and personnel set to be deployed for the exercise at the state Command Headquarters Awka.
Reaffirming that nobody will be allowed to disrupt the polling process, Mr. Isidore, appealed to front runners in the election to caution all their supporters and foot soldiers to restrain themselves from causing chaos as such will not be tolerated. Meanwhile, all Area Commanders and Divisional Officers had already been directed to remain alert and make extra preparation for the smooth conduct of the elections.
“As you undertake election duties, may you be reminded of the primordial obligation of every officer to remain apolitical and always provide a professional, fast, efficient, and courteous response to a legitimate citizen request for service or assistance.
I urge all of you to internalize all the training you have received so far seriously as this will surely play a significant role in our shared responsibility of ushering a peaceful, honest, and fair elections”, he said.
He reiterated that personnel deployed for the elections are expected to be professional in carrying out their designated duties as assigned as the nation expects law enforcement personnel to be of good behavior during the general election.
The Command enjoins everyone to be security conscious, vigilant and report any untoward incident or happening observed in their locality to the nearest NSCDC Formation or call the NSCDC Emergency Numbers as follows:

*2023 GENERAL ELECTIONS: COMMANDANT, OGUN SERVICE COMMANDERS ATTEND INEC OBSERVERS FORUM*
The State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ogun State, Commandant David Idowu Ojelabi, mni, alongside other service commanders in the State also attended the organised Independent National Electoral Commission’s Forum for Election Observers at the State Headquarters of the commission, Magbon, Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Wednesday, February 22, 2023.
Also at the forum for election observers are: the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Frank Mba, mni; the Brigade Commander, 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala, Abeokuta, Brigadier General MT Aminu; the State Director, Department of State Services, Mr Femi Aaron; the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr. Ahmed Umar, amongst others.
While speaking on behalf of the service commanders at the INEC Election Observers Forum, the CP noted vehemently that the security agencies are poised to give the ultimate and required support for everyone before, during and after the elections across the State.

*OGUN COMMANDANT ATTENDS INEC’S ICCES MEETING AHEAD OF 2023 ELECTIONS*
The State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ogun State Command, Commandant David Idowu Ojelabi, mni, also attended a meeting of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES)held at the State INEC Office, Magbon, Abeokuta, Ogun State on Wednesday, February 22, 2023.
The meeting was chaired by the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Ogun State, Barrister Niyi Ijalaiye, and other service commanders in the State.
Aside from the State Commandant other service commanders at the meeting include: the Commissioner of Police, CP. Frank Mba, mni; the Brigade Commander, 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala, Abeokuta, Brigadier General MT Aminu; the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr. Ahmed Umar; the State Director, Department of State Services, Mr Femi Aaron, amongst others.
CP Frank Mba on behalf of other fellow service commanders warned against any act capable of subverting and/or disrupting the elections in Ogun State.

RIVERS NSCDC COMMANDANT HARPS ON HITCH-FREE ELECTION DEPLOYS 5,255 PERSONNEL.
The Rivers State Commandant Michael Besong Ogar FCAI has reiterated on the readiness of the Command to provide adequate security before, during and after the 2023 General Elections.
Speaking with the newsmen during a Pre-Election Media briefing at the Command Headquarters of the NSCDC in Port Harcourt; the Rivers State Commandant affirmed that the Command is fully prepared for the Saturday 25th and 11th March 2023 Elections noting that the Corps’ preparedness was informed by the determination to remain apolitical, neutral and highly professional while on election duty.
He further hinted that the training and re-training programs organized internally as well as in conjunction with the INEC, the Nigeria Police and other Sister Security Agencies in the State have been very impactful hence the NSCDC officers and men are well informed on the election operational guidelines, the provisions of the electoral Act 2022, the NSCDC Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) amongst others.
“With the level of the the training programs we have organized for our personnel couple with the Election Security Personnel (ESP) joint trainings you can be rest assured that there would be effective security coverage in the elections”.
“In tandem with the directive of the Commandant General Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi mni OFR; the Rivers State Command has deployed 5,255 officers and men drawn from the various 23 Local Government Area, Departments and Units of the Command”.
“In addition, about 105 operational vehicles, 4 Gun Boats and Special Forces from the Intelligence Squad, Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear Explosives Unit (CBRNE), Armed and Antivandal Unit of the Command have been fully briefed and deployed”.
Commandant Ogar maintained that the level of collaborations amongst the security agencies with the Nigeria Police as the lead agency in election security; the sensitive and insensitive INEC materials, INEC Ad hoc Staff and the election environment would be adequately secured to enhance a serene and peaceful election process.
The Command helmsman called on critical stakeholders such as party leaders, their supporters, traditional institutions, religious bodies and the general public to consciously make concerted efforts in ensuring that the elections are free, fair and credible in Rivers State.
He urged the voters to remain calm and cast their votes in a peaceful manner shunning all forms of electoral violence as the security agencies would not hesitate to arrest anyone who distrupts the peaceful conduct of the elections.

NSCDC Bauchi Collaborate with Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority To Eradicate Illigal Dearlers of petroleum and Gas in the state.
The newly deployed state Coordinator in the state paid a courtesy call to the state Commandant, Commandant Ameh Edo James at His office to synergies and collaborate better in area that will bring better service delivery to the people of bauchi state. The Commandant reaffirm the commitment of the Command to tackle anybody that will cause hardship to the people in the state. The Commandant also promise to deal with those involve in diversion of petroleum products main for the state. He also showed his displeasure at the suffering caused by fuel scarcity to the ordinary Nigeria’s who wast there precious time queuing for petrol. Commandant Ameh Edo James finally echoes our amiable Commandant General Abubakar Ahmed Audi mni OFR who made a target to bring an end to economic sabotage by ensuring proper surveillance, response and monitoring of distribution of petroleum products in the state. The Commandant also call on the Anti Vandal unit to be on the watch.
The state Coordinator Engr Abba Garba assured the Commandant of there readiness to cooperate with the Command to ensure that the petroleum products are not diverted. The Commandant appeal to the people to be calm and corporate with the Command as it strive to hold all stakeholders acceptable the division of the products in the state.

*OGUN COMMANDANT MEETS OGUN REC, PROMISES NON PARTISANSHIP, ADEQUATE PROTECTION FOR ALL BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER THE GENERAL ELECTIONS*
The State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ogun State Command, Abeokuta, Commandant David Idowu Ojelabi, mni, visits the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Ogun State, Barrister Niyi Ijalaiye, at the State INEC office on a courtesy call on Wednesday, February 22, 2023.
According to the REC, the commission is committed to a free, fair and credible polls with adequate protection and security for all INEC staff, facilities and equipment across the length and breadth of the State.
In his own response, Commandant Ojelabi noted that the NSCDC in Ogun State is committed to a safe election devoid of irregularities and brigandage.
Furthermore, “I am particularly committed to a safer, peaceful and secured Ogun State alongside my fellow service commanders in the State. This is a mandate we all have been assigned to implement and ensure in our various formations in the State”, he concluded.

NSCDC, OTHERS SECURITY AGENCIES IN ANAMBRA STATE COMMENCES CONFIDENCE BUILDING PATROL, ASSURES RESIDENTS OF SAFETY DURING ELECTIONS
As part of confidence building measures in the run up to the forthcoming Elections, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command, led by the State Commandant, Isidore Chikere yesterday Tuesday 21st of February 2023, took part in the combined team of security agencies in Anambra State “Operation Show of Force”to reassure residents of their protection.
Commenting on the essence of the exercise, Comdt. Isidore said it was part of the strategy mapped out to ensure successful conduct of Saturday February 25th Election and the subsequent one in March. He assured that adequate necessary measures have been put in place to ensure voters exercise their franchise without fear.
According to him , personnel of the Corps have been on foot patrolling and area domination under their respective jurisdictions while surveillance in strategic locations have been intensified.
The NSCDC State helmsman called on those planning to disrupt the forthcoming elections to have a rethink as nothing would be left to chance , adding that all security agencies in the state are synergising to arrest and bring to book, any person or group wanting to foment trouble and cause breach of peace in the State.
