2023 Elections: Third-Estate Calls for Peaceful Polls, Cautions Against Violence

President of the Third-Estate Association, Barrister Ibrahim Toyin Hassan, has called on security agencies to intensify efforts towards ensuring a credible and violence-free election on Saturday (tomorrow).

The Third-Estate is a prominent and leading socio-cultural association of intellectuals and technocrats from Ilorin Emirate

In a statement signed by the spokesperson of Third-Estate, Mallam Shuaibu Ibrahim, Bar. Hassan, on behalf of their association, urged security agencies to ensure that an enabling environment is created for Nigerians in all parts of the country to freely exercise their franchise.

It added that credible elections and a smooth handover of power would strengthen Nigeria’s democracy.

The association also condemns all forms of electoral malpractice, including intimidation, vote-buying, and election violence.

It urged contestants as well as voters to eschew violence and money politics.

Third-Estate further urged electorates to be orderly in performing their civic duties and eschew violence.

It then urged politicians and their followers to follow the rules and respect the results of elections, advising voters to choose candidates based on their competence and good leadership qualities.
