MNJTF Raids Terrorists’ Hideouts, Neutralize Scores, Arrest Collaborators in Borno

MNJTF Raids Terrorists’ Hideouts, Neutralize Scores, Arrest Collaborators in Borno

1. The MNJTF has increased the tempo of its activities in the Lake Chad Basin Region to further degrade BH/ISWAP Terrorists. Troops of Sector 1 MNJTF Mora Cameroon conducted Operation SCORPION from 25 April – 02 May 2023. The operation was aimed at destroying BH ISWAP enclaves at Tcholl and its surroundings. During the operation, a total of 8 suspected BH/ISWAP Terrorists surrendered to the troops while others were neutralized around Kirta Wulgo.

2. Likewise, troops of Sector 2 Bagasola Chad maintained aggressive posture in the waterways and arrested 19 suspected terrorists fleeing the onslaught in other Sectors. Relatedly, troops of Sector 3 MNJTF Monguno Nigeria, continued to dominate the general area of operation. On 3 May 2023, the troops conducted a fighting patrol to clear elements of the terrorists hibernating in some identified locations of Nairawa, Kayowa, Amburam, Guminari and Musaram. During the operation, troops destroyed terrorists structures, logistics items and neutralized 4 BH/ISWAP Terrorists. In a related development, Sector 3 troops, on 8 May 2023, arrested some terrorist logisticians who specialized in supplying foodstuff, livestock and other logistics items to terrorists. Another suspected BH Terrorists logistics courier from Nguigmi in Diffa Region of Niger was arrested with his Camel stocked with foodstuff while trying to exit Monguno town. Items recovered from him included bags of rice, sugar, corn flour, pepper and veterinary medicines, among others.

3. On 7 May 2023, troops of Sector 4 Diffa Niger conducted a fighting patrol along Kajijiwa – Baroua Axis, as part of Op HARBIN ZUMA. The troops arrested 3 suspected BH Terrorists and recovered 2 canoes and several fishing equipment.

In his message to the troops, the FC Maj Gen GU Chibuisi applauded the troops and urged them to ensure that resupply of essentials and basic logistic materials for the sustenance of BH Terrorists were blocked. He implored the communities around the area of operation to continue to cooperate with the troops by reporting matters of security interest. See attached photographs.
