Maman Abba: A Tribute to Mum, Two Years After
17 May 2023 marks two years since my mother, the backbone of our family, left us and it still feels as if it was yesterday. There is no amount of words that can describe her worth and the impact she had on our lives. She was a remarkable woman with an indescribable spirit and boundless love.
Rabiat Usman, as she was formally called was a devoted wife and mother who always put her family first. She was a selfless individual that would give anything and everything for her loved ones. Her kindness and generosity knew no bounds and her positive attitude and bubbly personality were contagious. She was a beacon of light in our darkest days, and her memory continues to inspire us to this day.
As a mother, she had a deep love and affection for her eleven children that was unconditional. She was our rock and our confidante, always there to offer guidance and support. She instilled in us the importance of family, the value of hard work, and the power of prayer. Her legacy will forever live on in the way we walk in life, love one another, and cherish those around us.

To her friends, she was a constant source of strength and encouragement. She had a unique aura that made people feel at ease, and her infectious laughter could light up the room. She had an open heart, always welcoming with open arms, and a listening ear to anyone in need. She left behind a trail of individuals who will forever cherish the moments shared with her.
Maman Abba lived a life of purpose, service, and love for all those she met. She was an amazing grandmother, who loved spending time with her grandchildren, teaching them her values and what she had learned through her life experiences. She left behind an incredible legacy that we are all proud of, and we aim to carry that on.
As we commemorate her two years memorial, I am grateful for the time she spent with us on earth. Even though we miss her dearly, we know that her love and memories live on forever. We honor her by living full lives, by being kind to others, by upholding the values she instilled in us, and by keeping her memory as a constant reminder of the love and strength she exemplified. We love you, mum, and we miss you dearly.
