Hajj 2023: Katsina to Begin Airlift May 29 as Preparations Heat up in Kano, Yobe

The Executive Director, Katsina State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Suleiman Nuhu Kuki, has announced that the Board will commence the airlift of intending pilgrims for Hajj 2023 from the state on Monday 29th of May.

The Executive Director was speaking on Tuesday at the 2023 Hajj stakeholders’ meeting held at the Conference Hall of the Board.

Alhaji Kuki said the board had concluded all arrangements towards a successful 2023 Hajj operation.

He commended the stakeholders for their support and dedication during last year’s Hajj operation and urged them to sustain the tempo.

The Executive Director also used the occasion to speak extensively on the readiness of the board to commence the airlift as scheduled.

Also speaking, the representative of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Kano Zonal Office, said the commission had completed all arrangements for the successful flag-off of the 2023 Hajj airlift of Nigerian pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.

He informed the gathering that the first batch of intending pilgrims from Nasarawa state would depart Nigeria to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Thursday, May 25.

In their separate remarks, the representatives of Max Air, Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigerian Police Force as well as Port-health services among others, spoke extensively on the preparedness of their respective agencies for the exercise.

In a related development, the Yobe State Pilgrims Commission has organised an enlightenment programme for the 2023 intending pligrims from the state.

This is contained in a statement issued by the PRO of the State Pilgrims Commission, Malam Suleiman Alhaji Sabo, which was made available to PRNigeria.

Addressing the intending pilgrims, the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Alhaji Mai Aliyu Usman, enjoined them to conduct themselves peacefully and lawfully throughout the exercise and concentrate on what they are expected to do during the operation.

He also urged the intending pilgrims to follow the rules and regulations of Hajj and be good ambassadors of the state and the country at large.

The chairman assured them that they will get their Hajj uniforms and hand luggage very soon, adding that all arrangements had been concluded.

He expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the intending pilgrims during the enlightenment programme.

Meanwhile, the Coordinator of the Kano/Katsina Zonal Office of NAHCON, Alhaji Lawal Ahmed, also chaired a stakeholders’ meeting in Kano on Tuesday as part of preparations for the 2023 Hajj Operations.
