Security, Youth Empowerment: Nigerian Pilgrims Set Agenda for Tinubu

Some Nigerians pilgrims currently undergoing the religious rites in Madina, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have advised President Bola Tinubu to adopt new approaches towards addressing insecurity in the country.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Madinah, the pilgrims described security as the key to prosperity and development.

Malam Ahmed Soja, one of the pilgrims from Gwadabawa Local Government of Sokoto State, said insecurity was the most disturbing situation confronting the North West.

” The people of North West turned out in larger numbers and voted for President Bola Tinubu because they believe in his capacity and ability to turn things around in the country, especially the security challenges confronting some parts of the country.

” Therefore, the best gift that President Tinubu will give us in Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, Katsina and other states is to secure us. Insecurity has ravaged some of our villages and rural communities.

“We want him to swing into action and tackle the security situation as soon as possible so that life will return to normal in our areas and we can go about our normal business.”

Soja also emphasised the need for Tinubu to apply novel ideas in tackling the issues of youths’ idleness and unemployment.

According to him, youths’ idleness and unemployment is one of the major factors responsible for insecurity in some parts of the country.

Also, Alhaji Abdulwahab Ashiru, from Sabon Birni Local Government of Sokoto State, appealed to Tinubu to reform the nation’s security architecture with a view to end banditry in the North West.

” I’m a victim of bandit attack in Sokoto. Three of my children were abducted and I paid a ransom of about N1.8 million before they were released.

” Imagine a peasant farmer paying a ransom of that amount. So, I encourage President Tinubu to rejig the security architecture of the country in order to finally nib insecurity in the bud.”

On his part, Mohammed Usman, a pilgrim from Nasarawa State, who congratulated Tinubu, prayed that Almighty Allah give him the wisdom to overcome all the socio-economic and security challenges bedevilling the country.

It was gathered that no fewer than 7,156 Nigerian pilgrims from Nasarawa, Zamfara, Sokoto, Kwara, Lagos, Benue and Plateau states are currently in Madinah visiting the Prophet’s Grand Mosque and other historical places.
