UNISFA Celebrates Nigerian Army at 160 Years

UNISFA Celebrates NIgerian Army at 160 Years
…. Maj Gen BO Sawyerr urges troops to continue to project Army in UN Peacekeeping

On 6 July 2023 at the Force Headquarters UNISFA, the Acting Head of Mission and Force Commander UNISFA, Maj Gen Benjamin Olufemi Sawyerr led the Nigerian Base Defence Company at the finale of the week long celebration of NADCEL 2023.

The 160 strength Nigerian Contingent Force to UNISFA commanded by Col EJ Nkwereuwen were joined by members of other contingents and components to celebrate the week long activities.

The Commander of the Base Defence Company Col EJ Nkereuwen read the COAS goodwill message while Maj Gen Benjamin Olufemi Sawyerr the Acting Head of Mission and Force Commander in his remarks praised the contingent for their contribution to UNISFA mandate implementation.

He emphasized on the rapid growth of the Nigerian Army from 1863 till date as an institution that has helped to hold the Nigerian nation as one and projects it’s image in regional and global security. Maj Gen Sawyerr urged the troops to continue to be discipline, loyal and submissive to constituted authority.

The week long celebration witnessed the Juma’at Prayers, the Interdenominational Church Service, 3.5 km walk, novelty volleyball match and the wreath laying at the UNISFA Force Headquarters Foyer.
