CP Yusuf Lawal Assumes Duty as Borno Police Commissioner

CP Yusufu Mohammad Lawan Mohammed has assumed duty as the new Commissioner of Police for Borno State Police Command.

The new CP in a press conference on Monday in Maidugiri, expressed his appreciation to the inspector General of Police, IGP Egbetokun Olukayode Adeolu, for the confidence reposed on him. He stated that he would do everything humanly possible to justify the trust reposed in him.

CP Lawal Mohammed also said the police in the state would adopt the highest standard of professionalism and ethics, in accordance with the Best Global Practice.

He said: “The Inspector General of Police vision and mission statement will be our roadmap by upholding public trust and confidence, and ensure that we adopted the highest standard of professionalism and ethics, in accordance with the Best Global Practice”

“For the Borno command to achieve this roadmap, we need to put in some enablers to ensure that what we are doing here will be policy excellence, and enable us to be result oriented that will impact positively on the citizens of Borno State, visitors and indigenous alike by ensuring that we tackle crimes and criminality”.

“The restoration of civil authority has provided us with a veritable ground to see that community policy is feasible and developed. So our major strategy and toolkit will be community policy oriented by getting community inputs by identifying their policy priorities and needs.

“We are not going to say we know it all. We are going to relate with the community stakeholders to ensure that we feel their paws. If the people say we are working then we are working.

“So our key performance indicators under my watch will be public satisfaction and that trust.

“In addition to that, we will ensure that we work with our SWOT analysis, we know we have areas of Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats. We have some opportunities but we don’t have all the resources to tackle our mandate.

“We need to collaborate with other security agencies. So the opportunities provided by working together will ensure that we build that synergy to tackle the priorities identified by the communities.

“To do this, we must remember that the Information Act is a clarion call to all of us to be open, transparent and accountable to the people and the community. In this regard, what we team with the estate of the first realm, the media, who are very, very critical.

“So under my watch, I’m going to ensure that our media outreach is engaging. We are going to respect that act on Freedom of Information. We will have you with all our activities, and we will be open in welcoming any criticism that will be constructive, not destructive.

“Our key performance indicators will be rolled out as we get community input on how to police the state once again thank you very much,”

“It s on this note that I thank all of you, and I wish you God blessings, he said.
