Fuel Hike: Civil Servants Finding it Difficult Going to Work, by Yemi-Esan
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi-esan, on Tuesday, lamented the hardship both the removal of fuel subsidy and recent hike in the price of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, have visited on Nigerian civil servants.
At a media parley to commemorate the ‘2023 Civil Service Week’ in Abuja, she said many workers across the Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, of the federal government are finding it difficult to go to their work places and offices.
“Workers now find it difficult to come to work everyday. It’s now a burden on them, because of the increase in the fuel price,” said the HoCSF.

According to Dr. Yemi-Esan, the federal government, through an adhoc committee recently set up, will soon come up with plans to ameliorate the sufferings of civil servants.
“Some of the things the Committee is looking at is the issue of minimum wage for workers. We are also looking at the provision of buses and transportation of workers, among several other plans,” she said.
On why the theme of this year’s Civil Service Week celebration is “Digitalization of Work Processes in the Public Service: A Gateway to Efficient Resource Utilization and National Development,” the HoCSF, said it was carefully chosen in recognition of the multi-dimensional applications of digital technology in e-learning, information storage, automation, social connectivity and particularly e-Government.
