NIPR Presidency: Ike Neliaku Pledges to Facilitate Africa’s First PR University in Nigeria
A leading contender in the upcoming Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) election, Dr. Ike Neliaku, has pledged to work towards the establishment of the first Africa Public Relations University in Nigeria, if he is elected.
Dr. Neliaku, a fellow of the NIPR, said this in a session with stakeholders while unveiling his plan to propel the institute into a new dawn with new possibilities.
He said he will conduct feasibility and viable studies for the NIPR-owned PR university with the support of Education Advisory Board, as a finishing school for PR practitioners.
Dr. Neliaku released a document which contained his 9-point agenda to reposition the institute.
Some of the nine points include:
A strategic overhaul of the National Secretariat, primed to usher in a new era of effective administration
A robust initiative to elevate membership value and promote continuous professional development
An ambitious digitalisation endeavour aimed at revolutionising the institute’s operational framework
A resolute drive to amplify national recognition, simultaneously empowers state chapters for enhanced viability and sustainability.
Vigorous commitment to regulatory compliance, with a steadfast focus on elevating the rank and status of NIPR’s esteemed fellows
A masterstroke of innovation through special projects designed to ensure sustainable revenue generation
Pioneering endeavour to establish a national institution, aptly named the Nigerian Reputation House, to serve as the bedrock of public relations excellence in Abuja.
Dr. Neliaku said he left an indelible mark on the places he has served previously, adding that he has the reputation to deliver on his campaign promises.

He submitted that to consolidate on the achievements recorded by Mukhtar Sirajo, the outgoing President and Chairman, NIPR Governing Council, NIPR needs a man that is widely connected, resilient, calm, courteous and respectful, tested, and trusted.
Dr. Neliaku talked about his stewardship as Chairman, Organising Committee, NIPR-CIPR International PR Conference, 2021, under a partnership between the NIPR and Chartered Institute of Public Relations, London.
He pioneered the NIPR Citizen Summit for National Integration, Peace and Security, where he later led as the chairman of the planning committee.
Dr. Neliaku also served as Information Officer at the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, from 1991-92; Protocol Officer, from 1992-93; Personal Assistant from 1993-95; and Special Assistant to the Minister between 1997-98 respectively.
Not only that, he has also acted as a Special Assistant to the Minister of Cooperation and Integration in Africa, 1999-2003, and Senior Special Assistant (Administration) to the President of Nigeria, office of the First Lady, 2010-15.
Neliaku further wrote: “In the private sector, I currently serve as Executive Vice Chairman, Rightangle PR; Executive Vice Chairman, ABC Shelters; Executive Producer, Rightangle Productions; Convener, Issachar Centre for Research and Development; Executive Secretary and Member, Governing Board, Nigerian Prize for Leadership.
“In Community Relations, I also served as National Coordinator, Anambra REBIRTH, 2009-2011, a non-government organisation that intervened to promote community peace, understanding, and development in Anambra state. In partnership with State Government, we trained about 5,000 people on different socio-economic modules and empowered them to start businesses: Chairman, Police Community Relations Committee. Asokoro Division, Abuja, 2016-2020.
