    MNJTF Hosts New Commander, Bids Farewell to other Military Officers

    In a bid to bolster ongoing efforts to combat terrorism in the region, the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) hosted the new acting Sector 3 Commander, Brig Gen Maxwell Dangana, at its Headquarters in Ndjamena on 30 August 2023.

    Brig Gen Dangana, who was appointed recently stated that his visit is to formally introduce himself and receive further directives for his new role. His visit serves as an opportunity for him to familiarize himself with the Headquarters and its operations.

    During the visit, the Force Commander, Maj Gen Ibrahim Sallau Ali emphasized the need for quality leadership and urged Brig Gen Dangana to provide exemplary guidance to his subordinates. He stressed the importance of scaling up operations to rid the area of responsibility from any remnants of terrorist activities.

    Furthermore, the Force Commander advised Brig Gen Dangana to adopt a populations-centric approach in his operations. He urged him to ensure the inclusion of local communities, emphasize respect for human rights, and consider the welfare and interests of the people in the execution of his mission.

    The appointment of Brig Gen Dangana as the new Sector Commander for Sector 3 signifies the commitment of the MNJTF to intensify its efforts in securing the region and eradicating the menace of terrorism. As Sector 3 covers a significant portion of the MNJTF’s operational area, the appointment Brig Gen Dangana is expected to enhance the effectiveness of operations and improve coordination among the sectors.

    Brig Gen Dangana expressed gratitude for the warm welcome he received from the MNJTF leadership and affirmed his commitment to leading by example. He assured the Force Commander that he would work tirelessly to fulfill his responsibilities and contribute to the overall success of the MNJTF’s mandate.

    In another develooment, MNJTF has bid farewell to its Deputy Force Commander and 12 Military Staff Officers as they concluded their one-year mission.

    In a special ceremony held at the MNJTF headquarters in Ndjamena, the Force Commander, Maj Gen Ibrahim Sallau Ali decorated them with MNJTF medals in recognition of their dedicated service.

    Addressing the officers, the Force Commander expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the unwavering commitment and tireless efforts of the departing officers. He remarked, “The senior officers have shown exceptional professionalism and valor in the fulfillment of their duties. Their contributions to the MNJTF mission have been invaluable and have significantly contributed to our collective efforts in creating a safer and more secure environment in the Lake Chad Basin.”

    The Deputy Force Commander, Brig Gen Assuoalai Blama in his response, expressed deep gratitude to the MNJTF and its leadership for the opportunity to serve in such a crucial role. He emphasized the importance of the MNJTF’s collaborative approach, highlighting the need for continued cooperation amongst the participating staff officers to effectively combat the escalating security challenges faced by the region.

    He stated, “It has been an absolute honor to work alongside the officers of the MNJTF, who have displayed utmost dedication and resilience in the face of adversity. I am grateful for the trust placed in me and my team, and I have full confidence that the MNJTF will continue to achieve great success under the guidance of its capable leadership.”

    The ceremony concluded with warm wishes and farewell messages exchanged amongst the officers, symbolizing the camaraderie and bonds developed during their tenure with the MNJTF. The Force Commander urged the departing officers to leverage their experiences and expertise gained during their deployment to further contribute to peace and security in their respective home countries and the wider international community.

    As the MNJTF bids farewell to its Deputy Force Commander and 12 Military Staff Officers, their departure marks the end of a successful chapter in the ongoing fight against terrorism in the Lake Chad Basin. The MNJTF remains resolute in its determination to strengthen regional security cooperation and continue its relentless pursuit of lasting peace in the region.
