NIRSAL Equips Officers On Corporate Communication Skills for Brand Sustainability

The Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System For Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL PLC) in conjunction with Brook Consolidated Investments limited (BCi) organised training workshop for staff members on corporate and crisis communication.

The training which started on Monday in Nasarawa state had all the participants expressing their expectations from the five-day training program.

The theme for the training is “Future-Proofing NIRSAL ‘s Strategic Communication Approaches for Brand Sustainability and Impact’ and it was segmented into two sessions, with each topics being handled by reputable facilitators.

The first session was taken by the former Director General, Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) Prof. Tonnie Iredia, who discussed extensively on the topic ‘Best Practices in Crisis Communication For Corporate Organisations.’

Prof. Iredia advised participants at the end of his training session to see the communication department as a management function and be pragmatic about strategies as well as approach.

The second session of the training was facilitated by the Editor-in-Chief, PRNigeria/Economic Confidential, Mallam Yushau Shuaib, who handled the topic ‘Dynamics of Media Relations in The Age Of Social Media and Fake News: Upscaling Fact-checking Skills For Brand Sustainability And Impact. ‘

Shuaib urged participants to embrace the new technologies and take advantage of the various tools available to enhance media relations, especially in fact-checking potential fake news, propaganda and misinformation.

Speaking at the end of the opening day, the workshop coordinator and Vice President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Prof. Emmanuel Dandaura, expressed his joy at the robustness of the sessions. He commended the facilitators for touching on the realities of media relations in the face of contemporary challenges posed by fake news, hate speech and misinformation.

He described resources persons as “PR professionals par excellence.”

Participants at the training were drawn from the Corporate Communication unit of the organisation.
