Saudi Govt Foots Bill of Nigerian Conjoined Twins’ Surgical Operation
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through King Salman bin Abdulaziz, has extended a lifeline to Nigerian conjoined twins in Kano State by sponsoring their surgical separation in Mecca.
The surgery, which will mark a groundbreaking event in the field of pediatric surgery, is scheduled to take place at King Abdulazíz Medical City in Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia.
This was disclosed on Monday in Kano during a colourful ceremony to witness the airlift of the conjoined twins alongside their parents to Saudi Arabia at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, MAKIA.
Briefing newsmen after the ceremony, the Press Attache to the Saudi embassy in Nigeria, Mohammed Alsahabi, noted that the surgery is facilitated through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSARelief).
According to him, “the conjoined twins will undergo thorough medical evaluation, and a team of experts, including pediatric surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses, has been assembled to oversee the entire process.
“The twins’ family will be accommodated in Riyadh, and a support system will be in place to provide comfort and assistance throughout the journey,” Alsahabi added.

In his remarks, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf, who was at the airport to bid farewell to the twins, noted that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been rendering assistance to Kano State through provision of medical healthcare services, relief materials, cash donations and host of others.
“The King of Saudi Arabia has recently sent a team of experts and medical doctors who conducted heart operations on many patients at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, AKTH.
“Additionally, more than 3,000 Kano indigenes have also received free eye surgery, glasses and medicines from the Kingdom. Not only that, relief materials are equally being sent on an occasional basis to Kano State,” the Governor added.
Meanwhile, the conjoined twins named Hassana and Hussaina who are indigenes of Giwa Local Government Area in Kano State, departed Kano via a private jet provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with number HZ-MS4C at exactly 02:17 PM Nigerian time.
Hafsat Suleiman, the grandmother of the 24-month-old conjoined twins, expressed her joy and commended the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for sponsoring the intricate surgery aimed at saving the lives of the children.
Recall that the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre was established in 2015, and has so far delivered aid and relief to 94 countries through more than 2,500 projects.
This initiative, according to PRNigeria findings, reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to humanitarian causes and its dedication to helping those in need, regardless of their nationality or background.
