The Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, in collaboration with the Public Service Institute of Nigeria, PSIN, is planning to organize the executive version of the ‘Agripreneurship Training Scheme’ for Permanent Secretaries and Chief Executives of Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, service wide.

Dr. Folasade Yemi-esan, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, disclosed this on Thursday, during the ceremonial presentation of cheques to beneficiaries of Bank of Agriculture Credit Facility under the OHCSOF’s Agriprenuership Scheme.

She explained that laudable agriprenuership initiative was conceived in line with the sixth pillar of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021 to 2025 (FCCIP25), which focuses specifically on value proposition as a veritable instrument to enhance the welfare and wellbeing of civil servants for high impact performance.

She said: “The pillar also aligns with focus area number 3 of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Administration on boosting agriculture to achieve food security.

“Hence, the Agripreneurship Scheme is one of the initiatives under the Federal Public Service Entrepreneurship (FPSEP) Programme”.

Dr. Yemi-Esan noted that a total of 87 officers participated in the first batch of the training conducted in March 2023, which has culminated in today’s symbolic presentation of cheques to the beneficiaries.

“The second batch of training commenced on Monday 20th November, 2023 with 98 participants. I therefore wish to assure you that the Office remains committed to effective implementation of the Scheme.

“The conduct of this training could not have come at a better time than now when the country is clamouring for food sufficiency through diversification into agricultural production,” she said.
