ASA23: Arewa Stars Award Announces Panel of Judges to Screen Entries
Arewa Agenda, PRNigeria and DAILY NIGERIAN have introduced the panel of judges for the 2023 edition of the Arewa Stars Award and Conference (ASA222).
In a statement, it said the independent judging panel would be chaired by Mustapha Shehu, a development practitioner, educatiom planner and girl child advocate. Shehu is also the Katsina State Coordinator of the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment, (AGILE) Project, a World Bank assisted project of the Federal Ministry of Education.
Other judges include Barrister Nura Ahmad Muhammad Esq, a renowned Kano-based legal practitioner and human rights defender and founder of Mufarka Youth Development Initiative and Hajiya Nafisa Muratala Ahmad, a broadcast journalist who is the current manager of programmes at Express Radio 90.3fm Kano and knowledge management Chair Kano State Led Accountability Mechanism (KanSLAM).

Other Judges are Dr Maryam Nasir Aliyu the Head of Human Anatomy at Yusuf Maitama Sule University and Head of Medical Operations, Save a Life Cancer Awareness and Support Network (SALCASUN) and Abdulwahab Said Ahmad an African Photojournalist with decades of experience photographing issues related to rural communities, women and education.
The panel of judges will screen the over 700 entries and elect the winners under the age of 30 for 30 groundbreaking categories in various fields of human endeavours which include Media, Education, Politics, Social Media Influencer, Fashion and Design, and Entertainment (Musician, Filmmaking, Videography).
Other categories include Fintech, Legal-Law, Event Manager, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Medicine (Public Health), Banker, Agriculture, Interior decoration, Hotelier, Sports, Accountant, and Architecture.
Others are Engineering, Acting, Actress, Art/painting, Humanitarian/philanthropy, Makeup/beauty, Hand Craft (shoemaking- dye-ing-bag making), Photography, Social activism/work, ICT, and Real Estate.
The convener of Arewa Agenda, Mohammed Dahiru Lawal noted that the revolutionary initiative and masterpiece in the history of the north is instituted “to celebrate courageous young leaders who have shown considerable commitment to inspiring and empowering others through their work.”
The grand event will feature the 30 under 30 Awards, Panel Discussions, Disruptive Tech Exhibit, Honorary Awards for Mentorship Philantrophy and Humanitarian Services, Organisational recognitions, and Entertainment.
