Workers’ Welfare Remains Top Priority of OHCSF, Says Yemi-Esan

The Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) commenced its 2023 annual general training programme on Monday, 11th December, 2023.
The Head of Service of the Federation (HoSF), Dr. (Mrs.) Folasade Yemi-Esan, CFR, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Common Service Office (CSO), Mrs. Lydia Shehu Jafiya, mni said during her Opening Remarks that “the training is the fulfillment of a promise made by the HoSF in a Town Hall Meeting held on 14th September, 2023 that all categories of staff would partake in one form of training or the other before the end of the year”.

Mrs. Jafiya, mni affirmed that she is a product of training and as such called on participants to take its full advantage as it would help them progress in their various careers within the Service. She also admonished them to exercise decorum during the course of programme.

She disclosed that the OHCSF has made the welfare of staff a top priority, which is why the Management accepted the request of the Joint Union Council for the training and end of year welfare despite the fact that the outstanding 2022 training was only carried out in August, 2023, assuring that the two requests will be met before the end of the year.

The Permanent Secretary further appreciated the esteemed and seasoned training facilitators, while imploring them to put in their best to justify the commitment of Management to get the best for its staff.

Speaking earlier in his Welcome Remarks, the representative of the Administrator of the Public Service Institute of Nigeria (PSIN), Mr. Tunde Adeniran, Director Studies and Learning, thanked the HoSF for the confidence reposed in the Institute to conduct the annual capacity building exercise. He added that, “this is not the first one and is definitely not going to be the last.”

Mr. Adeniran started that over the years PSIN have been able to enhance the capacity of several Civil Servants to an improved quality, while assuring that the Institute would only get better since the Head of Service have, adequately, equipped them in terms of both human and capital resources.

In his Goodwill Message at the occasion, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Public Service Reportorial, Secretarial, Data Processors and Allied Workers (NUPSTRAW), Comrade Gideon Kukuwi thanked the Permanent Secretary, CSO for her role in ensuring that no staff of the HoSF goes hungry in this yuletide season.

The Director, Human Resource Management in the OHCSF, Mr. Raymond Uwaneyi, in a Vote of Thanks, applauded the Permanent Secretary, CSO-OHCSF for her encouragement, support and drive towards making the programme feasible and making sure that other programmes concerning adding value to staff are not hindered.

Mr. Uwaneyi also thanked members of the Union for their support, as well as enjoined participants to pay rapt attention during the training and robustly participate for maximum benefit.
