NSCDC decorates 505 Promoted Officers in Ondo

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ondo State Command, has decorated no fewer than 505 promoted officers.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 725 officers participated in the examination, while 80 per cent of them were promoted.

Delivery his speech at the command’s headquarters in Akure on Friday, the state Commandant of the corps, Mr Olatundun Olayinka, urged the promoted officers to justify their new positions with renewed loyalty and discipline.

According to him, the number of promoted officers is unprecedented because what we normally celebrate was 85 promotions.

“God has heard our prayers. We are decorating 505.

“I urge you to see this promotion as a call to higher service.

“You should be more disciplined. Your loyalty should be high. You need to be committed and dedicated.

“I urge you to read the Scheme of Service so as to know what is expected of you.

“Definitely, you will be given different positions and you must fit into them.

“God will give you the wherewithal to hold the new positions and be capable.

“God gives promotion. Those not promoted should keep calm because we will celebrate you next year.

“Ensure that there is synergy among you,” Olayinka said.

Earlier, the state Comptroller, Nigeria Correctional Services, Mr Jude Agboje, congratulated the promoted officers and said Nigeria was enjoying the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

Agboje urged those that took the exams but were not promoted to put in more effort and not be discouraged.

“For those promoted, much is expected of you.

“You must have started preparing for your new schedule, which is a call for higher responsibility.

“So, I advise that you put in your best because your superiors expect the best from you,” he said.

Also, the Comptroller, Nigeria Immigration Service, Mr Kayode Afolabi, said the promotion was from God and urged the officers to be disciplined.

“You are promoted, see it as a responsibility.

“Your code of conduct and status has changed, so let discipline be your watchword.

“There is so much ahead, so focus on them.

“Those not promoted, don’t be discouraged because your time of elevation will come.

“Thank God this promotion has met you alive. Honour your seniors,” Afolabi said.

Responding, one of the promoted officers, the Deputy Commandant of Corps, Ondo State Command, Dr Oluyemi Benjamin, assured them that the promoted officers would put in their best.

Benjamin thanked the commandant and the Minister of Interior for the promotion and encouraged the officers that were not promoted not to give up hope.

“Your promotion will surely come according to the time of God. Don’t give up,” Benjamin said.
