Nasarawa University Appoints Dean of Communication Faculty, Head of PR Dept, Others

Nasarawa University Appoints Dean of Communication Faculty, Head of PR Dept, Others

The Senate of the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, at its meeting on Thursday, January 25, 2024, ratified the upgrading of the Department of Mass Communication to the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, with immediate effect.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University and Chairman of the Senate, Prof. Suleiman Bala Mohammed, also announced the following four appointments for the brand new Faculty:

1. Dean of the Faculty: Prof. Muhammad S. Rabiu.
2. Head, Department of Broadcasting: Prof. Kaior Samuel Akpede.
3. Head, Department of Journalism and Media Studies: Tsegyu Santas, PhD.
4. Head, Department of Public Relations: Anthony Ogande, PhD.

As time progresses, the other five departments under the unbundled mass communication programme would be opened, namely:

1. The Department of Advertising.
2. The Department of Development Communication Studies.
3. The Department of Film and Multi Media Studies.
4. The Department of Information and Media Studies, and
5. The Department of Strategic Communication Studies.
