Shuaibu Takes Helm as 14th Theatre Commander of ‘Operation Hadin Kai’
Major General Waidi Shuaibu officially assumed command of the North East Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai, on Tuesday, becoming the 14th Theatre Commander in the ongoing fight against insurgency.
The handing over, held at the Command and Control Centre in Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri, marked a leadership transition as Shuaibu succeeded Major General Gold Chibuisi.
Following a six-month tenure in the theatre, Chibuisi has been redeployed to the Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC) in Abuja, where he will serve as a senior research fellow
In his remarks, Chibuisi commended officers and men of the theatre and critical stakeholders of the Operation Hadin Kai for their contributions in the successes recorded during his tenure.

His words: ”I consider the opportunity to serve as your commander for the past six months an honor and a rare privilege. Let me use this opportunity to thank the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, and the Service Chiefs for finding me worthy to serve in this capacity.
”As members of this noble profession of arms, we have dedicated ourselves to serving and protecting our dear nation. I appreciate all of you for your doggedness and support in our fight against the enemies of the nation in the North-East.
He urged the soldiers to sustain the tempo and extend similar support to the new commander to enable him to achieve more successes in clearing remnant of the terrorists and enhance peace restoration to the region.
On his part, Shuaibu said that he would sustained the tempo and build on the feat achieved by his predecessor.
He described his appointment as an opportunity to serve, adding that his role was to galvanised the officers and men toward achieving the mandate of the operation.
”So, we will just go ahead to enhance our ongoing operations, and ensure that officers and men do what they are supposed to do,” he said.
