Unpaid salaries: NASU, SSANU Give 7-Day Ultimatum to FG
The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) has expressed deep concern over the Federal Government’s failure to address the issue of unpaid salaries for their members.
In a statement on Friday, signed by SSANU President, Comrade Mohammed H. Ibrahim and NASU General Secretary, Prince Peters A. Adeyemi, the unions highlighted the distressing situation faced by their members who are yet to receive their salaries for the past four months.
According to them, despite sending protest letters to the Chief of Staff to the President and the Minister of Education on February 13, the government has remained silent on the matter, leaving them in a state of uncertainty.

They lamented that the continued neglect by the Federal Government is unacceptable and undermines the efforts of NASU and SSANU to maintain industrial peace and tranquility within the university sector.
While acknowledging the government’s payment of salaries to academic staff, NASU and SSANU insisted that equal treatment should be extended to non-teaching staff members as well.
The statement warned that the patience of NASU and SSANU members is wearing thin, and if the government fails to address the issue in the next seven days, they may be forced to take decisive and lawful actions.
The unions then warned that they should not be held responsible for any disruptions to administrative and governance processes within the university sector if the government does not act promptly.
They also reiterated their call for solidarity and urged the Federal Government to urgently address their grievances to avoid any potential escalation of the situation.
