Africa SABRE Awards 2024: LAMATA, 9Mobile, Blanche Aigle Win Big for Nigeria
Nigerian brands and public Relations firms have been announced as winners of the Superior Achievement in Branding Reputation and Engagement (SABRE) Awards 2024, which will be held next month in Abidjan, Cote Ivoire.
The annual award, organised by PRovoke Media in collaboration with the African Public Relations Association (APRA), recognises successes in brand reputation management and engagement.
The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) won three awards for its PR campaign on Lagos Blue Rail, including CEO of the Year, Public Affairs/Government Relations, and Public Sector/Government categories.
Meanwhile, 9mobile Telecommunication company and Blanche Aigle Communication bagged two awards each. For its campaign titled “The Hack- Expand Your Hustle,” 9Mobile bagged Superior Achievement in Reputation Management and Special Event/Sponsorship categories of the awards. At the same time, Blanche Aigle, a PR firm, is honoured for its campaign on Hilda Baci Cook-a-thon with Superior Achievement in Brand-Building and Western Africa categories of the award.

While the Presidency bagged the Crisis/Issue Management category for its campaign on fuel subsidy removal titled “Taming the Bull,” Pladis Food Nigeria Limited won an employee communication award for its Next Era of Happiness” campaign.
PRNigeria gathered that the campaigns by LAMATA, 9Mobile and Pladis were supported by a leading PR and Communications consultancy firm, Chain Reaction Africa.
Image Merchants Promotion Limited, the publisher of PRNigeria, and Economic Confidential and Integrated Indigo Limited, also from Nigeria, were declared finalists in two different award categories each.
Meanwhile, South African PR firms are the leading multiple award winners of this year’s SABRE. The South African agency Razor/M&C Saatchi Group is the big winner with five awards, followed by BCW (including Blast BCW in Mauritius and Engage BCW in Kenya), the South African agency Clockwork, and Ogilvy, who will receive three awards each. Newmark Group and Tribeca Public Relations will also receive two awards each.
According to Paul Holmes, founder of PRovoke Media and chair of the SABRE jury, the award trophies for the winners and certificates of excellence for finalists will be presented at the annual conference of the African Public Relations Association in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, on May 16.
All registered APRA conference attendees get automatic entry to the SABRE Awards. Only non-conference attendees must pay an entry fee to attend the SABRE Awards event.
