NIPR Records 596 New Members, inducts Fellows, Others at 2024 AGM in Abeokuta

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has inducted 596 new members since the current council took office in August last year.

This was announced by NIPR President, Dr. Ike Neliaku, during the 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM) after the Public Relations Week (NPRW) in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

According to him, the Fellowship Advisory Committee conducted a screening exercise on April 15, 2024, leading to the approval of new regular fellows by the council.

Additionally, the council approved the conferment of honorary fellowships to deserving Nigerians for their significant contributions to the institute and the nation.

Meanwhile, new members were admitted through direct admissions and the Master Class program, designed for candidates with over seven years of public relations experience who had not registered with the institute.”

The following individuals were conferred with Honorary Fellowship: Chief Lawrence Enamrerohor Scott-Emuakpo (Posthumous); Mr. Salihu Abdulhamid Dembos of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA); Mr. John Momoh of Channel Television, Ambassador Jake Epelle and Rev. Ladi Thompson

The institute also recognized 16 regular fellows. They are Mrs. Onyinye Ralph-Nwachukwu, Mr. Bedict Onah Okache, Mrs. Grace Ometere Ayoola, Mrs. Rose Oriaran-Anthony, Dr. Adetnji Oluwasegun Adeleye, Dr. Omowumi Omojola Awosusi, ACM Jonas Agwu,

Other fellows include: Obinna Friday Nwachukwu, Dr. Monday M. Chinedu Ashibogwu, Mrs. Grace Ladi Zamani, Mr. Yusuf Muazu, Comrade Loveth Chisaa Ekwemalor, Dr. Chijioke Kingsley Ukadike, Mr. Oluwole Falodun and Mrs. Lantana Ladi Ahmed.

Additionally, 53 Associate members and three full members were inducted at the event.

According to Spokespersons Digest, a publication of PRNigeria, the NIPR Council also approved the establishment of NIPR hubs in specialized areas to deploy PR and address critical challenges in various sectors, including poor infrastructure and government bureaucracy.

The hubs run by committees of seasoned practitioners, are strategically located in areas with high concentrations of businesses within specific sectors. The seven hubs are:

Out of the seven hubs, four are located in Lagos. They are Enterprises Hub, Maritime Hub, Aviation Hub and Financial Sector Hub.

While the Young PR Professional Hub and Anti-corruption and the Consumer Protection Hub will be located in Abuja,
River State will host Energy (Oil and Gas) hub.
